Seeking information on where a charity might regularly buy carry-on-size luggage

Good afternoon,
I was not able to find a specific thread on FlyerTalk specifically related to what I am looking for. I was referred to the FlyerTalk Cares as a possible posting thread.

I am seeking information for a local community charity in my area.

So, I am reaching out to the Secret Santa FlyerTalk Community for information.

I have been helping a local community charity in my area, entitled Project Care Case, where I can. Please see some references below for the local charity.

The charity recently expressed a need for carry on suit cases to provide to children and teens (babies, toddlers, young children, big children and teens) that had to be immediately displaced from their home and placed in a foster home to secure their safety. Often these children are only able to leave their former residence with a trash bag with a few items that personally belong to them. The charity would like to provide a carry on suitcase to each foster child that will be going into a new home with items donated that are their very own, and not have to travel with a trash bag.

My request from this local community charity is:
-Where can I find discounted and/or inexpensive carry on suit cases to purchase on a regular basis, as I am able to do so for children needing to transition to another residence?

-Can your recommend a site that has sales on discounted carry on luggage through out the year, and if so when?

-Is there a tread on FlyerTalk, that you can suggest or recommend, that I can contact that may have more information. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your information, suggestions and/or recommendations.

Please feel free to privately PM me regarding my requests for information.

Thank you and enjoy your weekend,
Sandra

Sandra,

Great thread.

Have you reached to either luggage manufacturers or resellers (a la REI, Sierra Trading Post) to see if they will either donate or sell at wholesale? Alternatively, what about buying from or partnering with a nonprofit that recycles goods, such as the Salvation Army?

Best of luck

Go to a local luggage store. Years ago I donated all my families unused luggage to a local store (that was partnered with a local foster care organization). They promoted the donations as a trade-in your luggage event and offered people 10% off all new luggage. In addition, they made minor repairs to the donated luggage and large tote bags.

Post on your local Freecycle group, asking for gently used luggage.
