Is this still happening? Are the Tatas still running? It's been **gasp** almost a year since anyone has posted.

Since last year the word has added a new meaning, just to confuse the thread:

But the original is still a great cause.

Excellent! We are on our way to an excellent dinner. foady, can you scout Hillcrest for an appropriate restaurant? I'd prefer your neighborhood to something in the Gaslamp Quarter, given that I live considerably to the north.

Missy, do you know yet where you will stay?

no.. they haven't told us what the route is or where the end ceremony will be.

I'll likely be staying somewhere very close to the airport sunday night for my way too early flight home Monday morning

Closing Ceremony (to which you are all invited) will be at Petco Park at 4:30 on Sunday afternoon, and I'm staying at the Westin Gaslamp Sunday night for my ugly early flight Monday morning.

I won't have a car, but If someone wants to pick me up, or point me towards the appropriate public transportation option ... I'm happy to eat anywhere. I would suspect that there will be about 4000 hungry walkers trying to eat in Gaslamp/Downtown Sunday night.

For the super ambitious... the Opening Ceremony is at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and starts at 6:30 a.m.

If you are going to let the SAN locals pick the restaurant, I hope that you like Mexican food.

So how many people are we talking about for dinner? There is a great Thai place called Amarin Thai in Hillcrest. There's also a great Italian place called Sambuca.

I suspected that even as I was writing that last post. Franny and I are sorry that we will not be able to get out there to support you but we know that you are doing something important and hope that you have a great time doing it.
