That could've been because the needle was too close to the edge of the vein (?) - happened to me 2 weeks ago. I was only able to get back ~ 250ml of saline + RBC before they had to stop because the puncture site was becoming edematous. They can also slow down the flow rate of the return - if that helps.
If they get dual-needle ones, I'll try again. Otherwise, I'll stick to whole blood.

Great to everyone who donates; I do, too. Although I am only about 75% of goalie's volume.
Please also consider being a donor. Heck, at that point in life, when they want to take your organs, you don't need them no more! Someone else might! ^

Went to donate today and failed the hematocrit--I guess my new doctor was right that I'm anemic! Just surprising since I've never been so before (and because I've been supplementing for the past few weeks since she told me). Time to rejig the diet a little more and try again in a few weeks.

There's a dengue outbreak where I am at the moment (North Queensland) - which means that they won't be taking in whole blood for at least a month!! That's why it was so quiet yesterday at the blood bank!

Dengue?! Nasty stuff.... Hope the blood bank doesn't run into any shortages as a result.
NY Blood Center just sent me an email that they're devaluing their points program. I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread about it on FT already.
