Usually low iron levels in the 11.0 range, so took 5 days of iron tablet pills and tried to donate blood a couple of months ago. Rejected not because of low iron levels, but because my veins were too small!
Nurse: "Go lift some weights and come back in a year."
REJECTED.
Also took a full blood test 2 weeks ago and iron levels 11.0. Wish I can donate but it seems completely impossible.

Thanks for the thought. I'm female and consistently at this level, but doctors have never mentioned anything except to eat more meat (of which I eat almost exclusively of to no avail). I'm scheduled to see another doctor soon though, and I've been exhausted these days so they had better do something.

Why is this the first time I've stumbled across this thread?! It's great to see so many donors here!
Try my best to donate every 2 weeks (plasma) - usually takes around 40-50 minutes! Haven't given whole blood in a while now (year or so) - purely because there's a 3 month restriction in Australia. Having said that, I find my fortnightly trips to the blood bank a good place to get away from it all and relax.

Heading in tomorrow morning to donate. We have a drive at my office this coming Friday but since that would interfere with my enjoyment of the PDH WineDo that night, I thought it best to schedule for a different date.
