I'm scheduled to donate again on February 8, at work.
Mr. Kipper just found out that he gets 4 hours of time off from work if he wants to donate blood, so he's going to start donating regularly.

Donated this afternoon. Had a lot of fun talking to the person who jabbed me with the needle. They were slow at the drive, sadly, so he stuck around while I was bleeding. Nice to have company.

Gave for the first time at an office blood drive a few months ago (yeah, yeah, I know, but better late than never). Just got the card from the NY Blood Center and it turns out I am CMV - (in addition to being O+). Not quite as cool as djk7's O- and CMV -, but hey.
Let the phone calls from the blood folks begin....

I would love to give blood and save people but they don't want my blood because I am gay.
It's too bad because I am in my 20s, healthy and I am universal donor.

Blood donation is an unvarnished good thing, if eligible. (I'm on another 1-year deferral due to travel to a malaria-risk area; odds are about 50/50 of extending that some time before the deferral is up, sort of sort of as the travel itself is fun.)
It's great if people make an informed choice to be an organ and tissue donor as well, although I have chosen not to be one.
