An excellent cause. I give blood as and when I can.

Well done to all of you who do too. Thank you.

I donated for the first time yesterday and it was very painless and took barely 40 minutes start to finish. I'll make a point to do it more regularly in future now I've created an online account and will receive a donor card soon by mail.

Just gave another triple of platelets...not surprisingly, the donor room was pretty quiet on Valentine's Day evening.

(Should have posted this much earlier)

In Hong Kong blood collection service is centralised and donors can walk in any donation center when fit to do so.

I always do whole blood donation as apheresis donation can only be conducted in one specialist donation centre which is far from where I work/live.

My membership was upgraded to a higher tier last year. Anybody cares for a status challenge ?

Finally received my blood donor card in the snail mail the other day. I'm 0+ which I'd forgotten or never knew but have already scheduled my next donation.

Donating blood only takes a few minutes but can potentially save lives. So let's continue donating as long as we're fit to donate.

[In FT language] My 29th whole blood donation requalified "frequent donor scheme" in Hong Kong.
(3 donations a year for male).

Which is great, and I would love to donate blood in HK as I did in the UK until I immigrated here 18 years ago.

Sadly, Hong Kong refuses to take blood from anyone who has spent much time in the UK or Europe in the past, so I can't. :-(

Thank you for the reminder! I had previously hit my plasma loss limit (in the US, there's rolling one year limit), so I was told to take a few weeks off. But I think I'm in the clear again. Time to donate some more snot (aka platelets)!

This thread is all about FlyerTalkers donating blood products.

We will leave rating or vetting organizations or donees to individual members’ due diligence, as that is not within the scope.

Thank you for your understanding,
