Be Soberman! 30-day No Alcohol Challenge to raise money for Cancer Care!
 

Dear Flyertalkers,

In addition to focusing on diet and exercise this year, I have also decided to be completely vegetarian for the year and to raise as much money for charities as possible in 2016! Those that know me personally will understand how much of a sacrifice giving up meat is - i would be happy having a steak for breakfast, lunch and dinner! However, since the 1st of January i've been completely vegetarian!

One of the charities i've decided to support this year is the Hong Kong Cancer Fund (www.cancer-fund.org) which raises funds to provide low cost or free cancer care services to patients and their families. In addition to care services, they also raise money towards research.

The Hong Kong Cancer Fund is launching a 30-day no-alcohol challenge, believed to be the first of its kind in Hong Kong. The Soberman campaign, in which participants are encouraged to forgo alcoholic drinks in order to raise funds for the charity, runs from 22nd February to 22nd March. Soberman is a campaign for a cause, and aims to encourage a healthier lifestyle. The funds raised will go towards the free services and programmes that we offer to anyone affected by cancer.

I've decided to participate in the challenge and am attempting to raise a modest HK$15,000 (approximately US$1950).

Giving up meat and my single malts is certainly a sacrifice for me, but it's nothing compared to the sacrifices made my cancer patients and their families.
