SFO: Meet UA232 Capt. Al Haynes for a great cause - Mon 11 Jan 2016 [CANCELLED]

THIS LOOKS LIKE AN AMAZING EVENT AT THE SFO AVIATION MUSEUM....CHECK OUT THE LINKS BELOW..ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT TO WIN A TRIP TO HELP A GOOD CAUSE!

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/changin...ts-19670503004

Airline Ambassadors International invites you to spend an evening with true American heroes at the SFO Aviation museum. Come out to learn about our programs, sign up for membership, enjoy a fabulous dinner, and interact with some of the people who have used their unique position in the airline industry to make the airline business; and the world as a whole a better place. You will get to meet and greet:

Captain Al Haynes- Pilot of United Airlines flight 232, a DC-10 that experienced catastrophic hydraulic failure in 1989, resulting in a crash landing in Sioux City, Iowa. Due to his heroic actions and composed communication skills, 185 of the 296 passengers and all but one crew member survived the accident. Captain Haynes was instrumental in designing many of the training procedures that are in use at airlines today.

Chris Hansen-Television journalist and host of Dateline NBC's To Catch a Predator documentary series, and Killer Instinct on the Discovery Channel.

All proceeds from the evening will benefit Airline Ambassadors programs which aim to educate and prevent human trafficking on commercial airliners, assist in delivring humanitarian aid to poverty stricken areas of the world; and help facilitate life saving medical treatment for children by providing adult escort companions when traveling to and from the US. An amazing silent auction will be held and door prizes will be given away-including a trip for two to a top secret destination. You must be present to win.

All donations tax deductable. Buy your tickets ASAP to receive the 2015 tax benefits. We hope to see you at SFO!

Given the broad interest this will have to the FT Community, will move this to CommunityBuzz to increased visibility.

To anyone who has never met Captain Haynes, I have to say that he is one of the most inspirational people I've ever met in my life.

And welcome to FT, sfo2LAS!

The book written by Laurence Gonzales, "Flight 232: A Story of Disaster and Survival", is fascinating, particularly because of the way he has woven the events and personal stories together with a deep dive into the technology of the modern jet engine, the mechanics of investigating air crashes, etc.

Very disappointed that this event has been canceled. The reason seems very weak. Not impressed with the organization that was sponsoring the event.
