Childrens Cancer Charity

I work with South and Central Texas Children's Cancer Charities. We're an IRS 501c(3) tax-exempt providing services to children with cancer. All donations are tax-deductible.

Recently we were contact about providing two children. We then arranged for transportation (must be via air ambulance due to sickness), hospital, and doctor costs to be covered via donation. However the corporation that agreed to provide the donation early this week notified us they declared bankruptcy. We are now left a little more then 2 weeks out with no source of funding. We've setup a fundraising webpage at www.youcaring.com/texaschildrenscancer Please help out if you can. These children have been through a lot already, and don't deserve to have hope taken away at the last minute due to a corporate bankruptcy. Even if you can't help please pass this along to anyone that you believe can.

Below is information on the two children.

One child, a boy of 12 years, currently has brain stem glioma. This means a cancerous tumor located in the brain stem. Due to the age of the child, and location within the brain stem surgery is the only option to give a chance at remission. However due to the age of the child, and location, very few hospitals and doctors in the US perform the surgery needed. Without treatment this child is expected to have only months to live. However with treatment, remission is very liekly.

The second child, another boy, this time age 8, currently has hypothalamic astrocytoma. This is a malignant tumor of the brain in the hypothalamus region. Surgery is required in order for survival. However due to location of the hypothalamus in the brain, and again age of the child, the locations with doctors and hospitals that are capable are limited. With surgery this child faces an 85-90% rate of survival. However, without surgery his prognosis is terminal.

We had arranged for the costs to be covered for all expenses for both children, including hospital, doctor, and air ambulance. However the company that agreed to cover the cost of the air ambulance has recently declared bankruptcy and is no longer able to provide their donation. Due to their conditions and the drugs being used to keep them alive they are unable to travel without medical support. We are therefore asking for donations to help cover the costs of the air ambulances for both children. We are less than two weeks away from the dates the hospitals and doctors have cleared to provide their services. If we don't get them there they will not be able to have surgery. We are asking for help in covering the $25,000 total air ambulance costs for these two children. Any contribution would be appreciated.
