With 37 days to go (HOLY MOLY!)...

Currently at 1,643.65!! I'm hoping the Mexican lunch I've put together for colleagues today pushes it closer to 1,700!

Smile Update - March 13, 2014

Hello fellow FTers!

So...today is ONE MONTH out! Holy cow! How did this happen!?

I'm very pleased to share I'm just under 200.00 towards my goal for Children with Cancer UK!! THANK YOU to many of you who've contributed!! I really appreciate it.

This past weekend I was in NYC with my sister and had the chance to go for a great 8 mile run! The only snafu was tripping after a guy in an SUV almost hit me while I was in a crosswalk... It just builds a bit of mental toughness when you have to pick yourself up and get running again!

Running down the west side:

Wrong side of the Pond for the Thames?!

Again, my sincere thanks for your support to this cause!!

I really appreciate it!

Well anyone who knows CMK10 knows he's always good for $25 for a good cause. I'm sorry it isn't more...I'm a student and all.

P.S. Glad you put this in the DL Forum or I'd have never seen it.

Smile Update - March 17, 2014

Hi Everyone,

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

After another weekend in NYC, I'm back in the UK for much of the duration (26 days!!) til the London Marathon.

Thanks to the support of so many, I've reached 1,833.50!! Quickly approaching my 2k goal as the race gets closer.

I had a great training run early Saturday morning before dragging my nieces to various points in Manhattan and Queens. I'd estimate the total was about 19-20 miles.

East River / Brooklyn Bridge in the dark:

Headed back up the West Side:

Thanks again, everybody!

Good luck, Robin! You're 42 closer to your goal - one for each km you will complete. I ran Boston last year and missed the cut for this year's Boston by six seconds - so I'm putting all my Marathon Mojo behind you in your quest to finish in under 5 hours!

Happy Running,

Jeff

Smile Update - March 20, 2014

Hi All,

Well, I'm at 2,163.00 - thanks again everyone!! Your support has been appreciated.

I'm also for a very nice spring day yesterday and a great run! While many seem to think I live in the city (London) or LHR (second home), I really do live in the "middle of nowhere" in the English countryside!

About the 4 mile point in yesterday's 9 mile jaunt:

I'm glad the wind was to my back for most of the run!

Update - March 25, 2014 - 18 days out!

Hello fellow FTers!

18 days from now (literally right now), I'll be in Greenwich waiting to start! HOLY COW!

As of today, thanks to the generosity of SO many, I've reached 2,171.20 through a combination of online giving and cash donations from colleagues, friends, and others here in the UK.

I'm now looking at tapering down my mileage. I thought I was going to hit another 16-18 miles this past Sunday, but I did not set myself up for success this past Saturday when I was in London. The weather in London was awesome on Saturday and I wanted to get pics of the city from Primrose Hill, which is a short, but steep climb.

View:

I woke up Sunday morning to woefully painful calves, well beyond the "suck it up" threshold.

That said, I fit in my last longer run yesterday through the countryside around where I live.

Great River Ouse - a bit fuzzy/soft with the sun behind me:

Thanks again to everyone for your continued support!!

Update - April, 1, 2014

Hi All!

Well, we're 12 days out!

Pleased to get a 60k SkyMiles (yes, a low redemption!) for my sister to come from SoCal to London for the race weekend!

Up until just over a week ago, I'd made it through this process with pretty minimal pain. THEN, the IT band flared up - ouch! I've taken it easy for the past week...as well as ice, Aleve, and the evil foam roller. Good thing it happened as I was tapering down mileage!

This past weekend in Cambridge (horrible run tho )

Short run this morning - pleased to say I felt really good!

Thanks again for your support through this process! Currently at 2,213.95!!
