Eons ago, I worked after school in a lab and volunteered in a children's hospital with children with cancers. Thank goodness, may of those that were fairly quickly mortal are now treatable. I'm in a pound Sterling per km (26 mi = 42 km).

One thing about the UK...plenty of options to run in the dark when training for a spring race.

THANKFULLY, it's starting to get light again. 2 miles into my 8 mile run last night:

I was very happy to have it light for the majority of my trek and not completely dark by the the time I got home!

Update - March 3, 2014

Hello Fellow FTers,

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Yesterday, I ran the Bath Half Marathon in Bath, a city on the River Avon west of London and not far from Bristol. Bath is home to the Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths - it's a neat place to visit if looking to do something outside of London!

Anyhow, I'm pleased to share it was a personal best (2:28)!! This is good since the London Marathon is 40 days away!

A pic from the finish line:

Also, thanks to everyone for their continued support. As of today, I'm at £1,032.81 for Children with Cancer UK!

I'm looking forward to a light running week and recovery, then amping up mileage in anticipation of the marathon! Long run in NYC the next two weekends!!

Have a great week!!

To my fellow FTers, let me just simply say THANKS!!.

Your ongoing support to this cause and my (insane) effort to run a marathon is profoundly appreciated!

Of the £1425.20 collected to date, my fellow frequent flyers have contributed approximately £654 (over 1/3!!).

Thank you really does not seem sufficient!!

Hi Everyone,

Crowd support is a huge morale booster for those participating in a race. Despite the rain, over 30k people came out to support the 12k runners in the BATHALF this past Sunday.

A running story to share...

This makes me happy.

So the quote above is the amount I started with today.

As this Tuesday draws to a close, the generosity of fellow FTers, other frequent flyers I know, and friend puts the total at £1,516.40!!

Thanks again to everyone for their generosity! £2,000 seems very doable for this cause!!

My coworkers will be buying in on a Mexican lunch (living in the UK, I find I need to make my own Mexican food!) this coming Thursday to further help towards the 2k!

(Barely) 39 days to go!

Some facts about childhood cancer...as I'm an American and living in the UK, I'm providing info for both countries.
- US & UK: Childhood cancers comprise of approx. 1% of cancer cases diagnosed annually.
- US: Thanks to research and advances, approx. 80% of children diagnosed now survive for five years or more.
- US & UK: Leukaemia (Leukemia for we Americans) is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in children.
- After accidents, cancer is the leading cause of children's deaths
