PFLEX - what fare is this?
 

I booked a PFLEX ticket, and I'm confused. The online agency said in their confirmation that "first-class" tix, which is obviously rubbish in AY's case, but I wonder if it's the front or the back of the bus :) I was secretly hoping that "first" would mean in fact "biz" but looking at the baggage allotment (20kg) I fear it's a humbly Y class ticket. How is the points earning for this fare?

(and should/could I raise hell at the travel agent?)

P is economy fare bucket with some level of flexibility. 100% coach points earned for int'l P tickets, 50% = 500p for domestic P.

Nope, don't raise hell. If you want to be polite you could drop them an email explaining the issue and hope it gets fixed (which is quite a crapshoot...).

This is caused by the fact that apart from the standard IATA fares and corresponding booking codes (F, C, Y) there are no worldwide (not even alliance-wide) standards on booking classes. For many airlines Z is discount business, but for AY it is the cheapest economy booking class - thus a lot of online booking tools used to show the cheap AY Z-fares as "business class" fares due to the way that the software was written to display the Z fare code. There are tons of similar examples. Some will get fixed over time, some not. Even checkmytrip gets confused every now and then (e.g. SK X-class economy awards used to be displayed as "Business" etc.).

The AY Plus earnings table on the website is the ultimate truth in AY booking classes. Too bad the crap website doesn't allow permalinks.
