AY and Widerĝe, old enemies?

Just a couple of minutes ago I tried to buy a FLT reservation involving AY at the much praised Widerøe website:

http://www.wideroe.no/?ds=off

While they do sell many OW products, they seem to categorically exclude all competitive AY products. When I proceded with my reservation, I noticed that among the (virtually all existing) FF programs there was no mention of AY Plus.

It seems quite evident that Widerøe doesn't like AY. :( Am I correct in stating that they even used to have code-shares some years ago? Any explanation of what has happened since then?

Maybe the fact that Norwegian is part owned by Finnair and confirmed as a feeder/codeshare partner for Scandinavia - HEL flights plays some role...

What a surprise!!! It is partly owned by AY and yet it sells tickets for BA, MA and other OW carriers, but not for AY!

The reason actually (this is my own theory, but I am pretty certain it is correct) is this:

All tickets purchased on wideroe.no will be issued as wideroe-tickets (on 701- stock). For some reason tickets calculated with WF as validating carrier (ie. issuing carrier) do not produce a correct fuel surcharge. Thus all tickets AY-flights issued on a WF-ticket will be less expensive than elsewhere. I don't know why WF can't fix this problem but instead they have chosen not to sell any AY-flight on their site (which is understandble).

Small note: Norwegian does not equal Wideroe.
:)

This may very well have something to do with it. If looking at the fare calculation AY is using the YR component as the surcharge while most other carriers uses the YQ component.

Maybe WF don't want to fix it, for whatever reason.

However, that don't explain why they don't even have AY Plus as an option when applying a FFP to a booking.
