AA awards available for Finnair flights, but not Finnair

Hi everyone!

I'm trying my best to find award flights for business class on Finnair flights HEL - HND - HEL. As you might know, Finnair's own website is total crap for this, because you need to search one day at a time.
So I used AA's site and found a lot of availability on Finnair flights for the dates I was looking for. However when I tried those specific dates with Finnair's site, there was nothing. I also asked Platinum customer service and they said there are no award seats available.
AA has award space for Finnair flights, but Finnair doesn't have any for their own customers. I know Finnair has been pretty bad lately, but I think this is just ridiculous.

Is there any way around this? I don't think I have a way to transfer any of my Finnair or even Amex points to AA, so I have no idea how to get those award seats.

Thank you if anyone can give me some tips on how to proceed.

One possibility is that AA is showing phantom availlability.

True, that is possible. Of course there is no way of really verifying it, but it might be the case.

I don't know about AA that much, but BA shows pretty much the same availability as AY, so you may also check there.

This is most likely the case. Not the first time.

Pretty much any date in February at this point for 5 - 6 nights there. For example 6th of February to the 12th or 13th. If you want to check, go right ahead
Thanks!

This would be a very interesting research - but can you really determine if phantom or not? Might not show until you actually finalise a booking. And in the off chence it isn't phantom you'll end up with HND tix you don't want... (but again, who doesn't want HND tickets 😀😀😀 )

The Americans have many great things, including the 24 hour rule.

That could be a clue - perhaps there is a mapping fault. AA somehow thinks there are J seats when AY intended to publish Y seats.

But if it truly books into valid U tickets, then there is something interesting to dig into.

Finnair is doing point of sale discrimination. it should be possible to buy these awards with AY points by calling finnair plus USA, as long as finnair plus USA uses a US point of sale, and not a central one in HEL.
