AY on Twitter:
We’ve further enhanced the digital experience of our booking flow, making it easier than ever to select the most convenient flight for you. You can filter the options by travel class, time, or refundability and list the results in your preferred order

Anyone liking the new booking flow?

I would say this shouldn't have been their priority. How many results do we get when we search XXX-YYY ? 3 ? or max 5 ? I wouldn't need filter for such a short list. So, it doesn't improve anything for me.

Where is the multi city booking option ?

At least that seems to have been expanded to show a price grid for flexible dates

Moderator note - I have created a new thread for these posts and moved them out of the generic IT-thread as the subject is stand-alone worthy and will get more attention as such.

I don't like it. Sorting (google flights style) would be more user friendly + customisable than using the pre-defined tabs on top. Also it is unclear to me what AY means by "Best flights". Best flight for me will be different to best flight for anybody else. How can AY possibly know what I am looking for?

For me, the filters are very welcome and a function long missed. I regularly get a search result of 10-16 flight options, just try searching with a connection in HEL on a route with multiple dailies on the shorthaul and partner netwirk on the longhaul. Eg. EU-TYO or NA.

However, I have issues with how the filters have been implemented. I think we should be able to apply the filters already on the first screen. (Travel class is already there, can't understand why they didn't put all filters there too?)
Doing so would make the price-calendar useful, as one then could search for the ticket one wants and see the correct pricing calendar. If I am looking for morning flights in business class and a refundable ticket, I still need to do the entire search for a specific date, then filter to see the options and pricing. Then I need to go back and do it all over again to see the prcing on another date.

Also - filters should be semi-persistent. If I am filtering for something on one search it is very likely I will want to apply the same filters for the next search (within that session). So filters should be sticky "for awhile". There is a reset-button if I want to remove them.

Another way to do it, would be to offer the filters inside the calendar view - and make them "live". So let's say you quickly searched for a destination and got the calendar view. Then you think "aha, what about J pricing" and you apply that filter and the view updates immediately. "What days has morning flight?", apply the filter and boom. "How much for refundable tickets on these flights?" apply filter and boom. "Oh, that's too expensive!" - remove that filter and go back to morning flights in J and choose a date.
Then of course, that selection should keep into the actual booking flow and you should be immediately be presented with that price you selected and other options can be shown below. In fact, both the outbound and return should be selected and you should be ready to finalise the booking right away, and not have to select the actual flights selected by the filter.

I also like more filters. I think class, refundability and time of day are useful filters for many. Perhaps I am not mainstream enough, but I'd like to filter on operator. With the different partnerships, sometimes there are just too many options and when I am looking for Finnair prices on a route that I know Finnair is serving, I'd really like to filter out all obscure connections.

Finally, one major flaw of the filters. They are not implemented on the award searches! Perhaps again they see it as an edge case. But again to make the search and calendar view useable, it would be best if one already at the time of searching could limit results so the calendar shows correct info. If a customer is looking to redeem in business class on Finnair, it is frustrating to be shown a calendar with availability on JL in economy.
