HEL T2 opens - with new security scanners and priority line

Seems like the new terminal entrance will be opening already around 6pm on 30NOV.

This is probably höpö höpö. Something will open later in the evening but everything will be open on 1 DEC.

You were correct. I parked in to the new P2 parking tower and walked in through the T2 doors around 18.10. I was among the first customers to enter.

The new T2 looks great!

Looks nice! I'll be flying tomorrow, but I booked P3 and will likely enter via T1.

Looks very nice! As far as I understand the new building is just a new entrance until summer 2022. So check-in and security control is still in the same place as before. Also baggage claim remains in current halls 2A and 2B until 2023.

What I hadn't heard before is that there is a Plaza Premium Arrivals Lounge opening next year in the new building. I guess Finnair doesn't have similar plans?

Was just about to ask about (priority) check in and security arrangements but I guess we'll wait and see.

If AY would first bring back proper catering into their lounges and re-open the Plat Wing, then we can ponder about an arrivals lounge 😂;)

Where it is said new Plaza Premium is arrivals lounge ?

"Lentoaseman Burger King, Helsinki Market ja Espresso House sekä Moomin shop palvelevat jatkossa myös tuloaulassa. Keväällä 2022 tarjonta kasvaa lisää, kun monipuolinen ravintolamaailma ja ylellinen Plaza Premium Lounge avautuvat."

The bolded sentence would suggest that more restaurants and a Plaza Premium Lounge would be coming to arrivals. I think the wording is otherwise sort of oddly placed if it is not an arrivals lounge.

EDIT: If you look at the second terminal map on the article, and look at number 19, it says the PP is indeed an arrivals lounge,

Yes, now I see the map.

What is the concept of PayPerUse Arrival lounge?

As in who pays for it. If it was a Finnair arrival lounge, it would be clear. Now it's going to be for --- amex centurions? Most certainly AY is not going to pay for lumo access :D

OH-LGG Nov 30, 2021 2:59 pm

I mean who pays for lounge when arriving? Or is this going to be just basic airport restaurant ?

AFAIK AX Plat also gets you access so there will be some of them. AY should allow Lumo arrival access to their own departure lounges instead, only drawback is when coming from a non-sterile arrival and ending at HEL you won't have access.

The only potentials I see are JL and QR as airline tenants, but they don't seem to offer arrivals lounges at other outstations so I doubt it'll happen at HEL.
