Singapore Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL)

Singapore will launch a joint VTL with Malaysia for travel between Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) from 29 November 2021. Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) applications for Short-Term Visitors and Long-Term Pass Holders will commence on 22 November 2021; returning Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents who are fully vaccinated will not need to apply. Singapore and Malaysia are also in detailed discussion to launch a similar scheme for travel across the land links.

We will also extend the VTLs to Finland and Sweden from 29 November 2021, with applications for Short Term Visitors and Long-Term Pass Holders commencing on 22 November 2021.

More details will be provided nearer the date when applications are open.

How's Finnair reacting? Will HEL-SIN designated as VTL flight?

Getting excited here

Yes, interesting if Finnair is "in on the deal". From what I heard, VTL routes are all Singapore Airlines routes (or with designated partners).

Finnair is promoting the easened travel restrictions of Singapore on Facebook and Twitter. I'm not sure if they know that one has to arrive on a designated flight? At least Qantas and BA are on the list, but no sign of AY yet.

Whether Singapore Airlines planes have been seen before at Helsinki airport? An interesting addition.

I was just laughing the other day on their "The world is open" TV spot - filmed in Singapore's Little India, which as of today is a no-no...

SQ flies from ARN and Sweden is also on the VTL list, so here's to hope... but as it also lands and takes pax at DME, it might not be a VTL route, so

Thanks Wilco, this is good news! There are other airlines, as well. At least some BA flights, I reckon. My guess is that the inclusion of Finland in the VTL programme has been negotiated between Singapore and Finnair. Let's hope we'll hear more soon!

I'm almost 100% sure Finnair flights will be designated VTL flights.

Restrictions are that you need to be tested on arrival. If test is OK then no quarantine.
Also, VTL arrivals are limited to 6000/day, from currently 13 destinations. Perhaps other restrictions exist too, but I don't know.

At least in February 2009 when SQ61 (773) diverted to HEL.

And in July 2008 also SQ61 diverted HEL (773)

The probability of a false positive PCR is almost 0. Of course you might actually be infected, but in that case it's probably the right thing to quarantine anyway.
