I think AY could try something new in this situation where asia looks bleak... Cuba, MCO CUN pju etc

Any links to trip reports and details of the service and experience in Y for ARN-JFK? Also, does AY offer the equivalent of BA’s paid airport upgrades and if so how much might it cost to upgrade to premium economy or even to business?

Question AY to SK connection at T5 (non-Schengen to non-Schengen) [cross post]

I posted this in the SK forum but haven't had any reply. I'm hoping that someone here has some experience.

I don’'t believe this has been covered recently.

I’m arriving JFK-ARN on AY and connecting ARN-LHR on SK. Arriving in J and departing in SAS Pro Pro (and am *G).

the AY flight seems to arrive at T5 gates 17/18 or in the F concourse some days. The SK flight seems to depart from the T5 F gates.

I gather that I will have to clear security. Is there a way to transfer between the two gate areas without having to clear immigration? I read somewhere about a bus?

how long should I budget for the transfer?

the AY flight is scheduled to arrive at 0615 and the SK flight departs at 0750.

thank you in advance!

You need to go thru immigration and thru transfer security which is one line and two persons on duty. = Very slow.

Would it be quicker to just enter Sweden via baggage claim and clear security upstairs, especially if Fast Track eligible?

Unless something has changed, I thought lines ran all the way to Sky City from T5? Thus making it quicker to via the (unnecessary) transit checkpoint which wont work if re-checking bags?

FWIW, I am carry-on only. No checked bags.

Something has changed. I've been lurking the SK forum a bit because in August, I'm flying AY ARN-LAX-ARN. Firstly, ARN has turned into a developing country airport, as they have security guards at the entrances, only letting in pax leaving within the next three hours, to avoid overcrowding. Secondly, they've opened up T4 and there is a security point there, connected airside to T5, relieving the T5 checkpoints. My understanding is that security is significantly better now but I don't have firsthand experience yet, and of course it depends a lot on the time of the day as well as the day of the week.

Main security is the issue, the fast track one works quite decent. I personally would probably go that route.

Someone built a very unofficial graphing tool using data from the airport websites for Arlanda and Gothenburg. It shows the waiting times for each checkpoint throughout the day, going back a few weeks (reporting to the maximum of 50 minutes). See airportsecurity.se

The other problem now is that once you're through security, many of the shops and restaurants have limited staff so you'll have the pleasure of queuing for snacks instead.

We are on AY29 Arn -JFK in 2 days booked in business

And I just received an email telling me to head to airport in Stockholm 3.5 hours early. Is this for economy or does business also need to arrive this early??

If all goes well, yes, it works. But I wouldn't count on it, as it depends on time and day. Last week there also fast track was a complete zoo, line to fast track was as long as the normal one. When asking a member of airport staff about the very long line, she helped us by escorting a small group of us to transit security going first downstairs, taking elevator upstairs and then through a maze of corridors to transit security. Not a standard procedure I guess, though. I heard that quite alot of people nowadays buy a fast track pass to avoid long lines, which has caused also that line to be very long some times of the day. ARN T5 has recently become a complete zoo, where nothing works.
