Correct, I am OUL based. No problem with overnight transfer. I stayed at the Scandic and got food from Alepa. Only Alepa, R kioski and one duty free shop appeared to be open. Before being allowed to enter security at OUL the police were there and I had to explain the reasons for my trip. Once I landed at HEL there were people offering to help direct me if I needed it but I wasn’t questioned at all. In the morning there were 2 passport control checks. I wasn’t questioned at those either. I did encounter a handful of people at the transfer desk in Heathrow being sent back to their origin by UK border guard.

It was strange. Like when you arrive in the last flight of the day and the airport is empty and all of the shops closed.... except it was daytime.

I connected through T3 a week ago and it was scarily EMPTY! Everything was closed except Boots and WHSmith. For Boots they only allowed a few customers at a time in the store. All passengers were waiting in the main waiting area and there were probably 80-100 passengers in the whole terminal. It really felt like the end of the world. Also Tokyo HND airport was totally empty. These are interesting times we live in now.

When flying out of HEL, are you quizzed on the reasons why? I've asked Finnair if the reason i want to fly to UK for few days is sufficient (personal/family) and they said yes, and i've seen you can submit travel plans to matkustusilmoitus.fi

I just don't want to travel and organise somewhere to quarantine in the UK if i'm going to be stopped/not allowed to proceed by passport control at HEL. And that's before i even attempt entry into the UK for a few days!

This is what the Finnish Foreign Ministry tells us:

Voiko UM kieltää minua matkustamasta tai määrätä minut keskeyttämään lomani?
Liikkumisvapaus on suomalaisten perustuslaillinen oikeus.

You could of course show the border guard a screenshot of this wepbage. https://um.fi/ajankohtaista/-/asset_...ronaviruksesta

I'm arriving in HEL on Thursday for the first time in over a month. I know I am recommended to arrange "quarantine like conditions" after arriving, but are there still government-paid taxis to take me "home" (parents' empty apartment)? I guess I am not supposed to be using public transport (which I guess now consists of a walk to Aviapolis and then the train?)

Free taxi ride:

Travellers returning home from abroad may also be eligible for transportation by chartered taxi. More information about the taxis is available at the info desk at Arrivals Hall 2B. For more detailed instructions, ask a member of Finavia staff.Taxis take returning travellers straight home. The taxis are free of charge for returning travellers but only if the taxi ride is organized via airport's info desk (at Arrivals Hall 2B).

It is not allowed at all. You have to sign a paper saying how you will get home. I was given a government-paid taksi ride all the way to my home in Pohjois-Pohjanmaa. That was 2 weeks ago and my friend said last week it was the same for them to get home to Tampere.

I can see the free taxi for those who were abroad BEFORE this crap started but they should pay their own if they left after the the hit the fan IMHO

in otherwords if they did not prepare or did not care

not pointing at anyone in particular just an opinion on an enourmeous govt spend wastage!

No worries! Just keep calm and carry on being a merry person to be ripped off... Business as usual here. Just think about the 0,000001 lives possibly saved by the cab ride!

I've been cursing why I haven't started e.g. Flying Bookings Ltd, specialising in nerdy IATA bookings. Should've applied for some 100 000 € of "development" aid from Business Finland. Of course it would mean e.g. flying to DEL for crucial market research. And no worries, of course the staff number would be sufficient by recruiting a bunch of FT'ers as Market Consultants. Anyone with AY+ Lumo would of course be Senior Market Consultant.
