Spain finally woke up and mask höpöhöpö requirement on IB flights (also AY wetlease) is over:

The Minister of Health Carolina Darias confirmed today that the requirement to use masks on public transport was no longer necessary from Wednesday, February 8.

The minister had made the announcement earlier in the month but had to wait for the change to be published in the government’s gazette before it came into law.

The change means that from tomorrow no masks will need to be worn on aeroplanes, buses and trains although everyone retains the right to do so. Masks, however, remain mandatory in health centres, hospitals and pharmacies.

Anyone with recent experience of HEL-TYO?

It is a bit unclear if AY have any pre-departure covid checks at all. Do they check the Visit Japan Web blue boxes in case you have registered for fasttrack?

Nope.
But I had to wear the face mask during the entire flight
Same on the return flight!

AY operated.
Japanese government requested all the airlines to enforce the face mask during the entire flight.
Finnair is only complying with their request, which CA mentioned at the beginning of flights.

Oh, I didn't know AY enforced it. Since JAL doesn't do it (according to trip reports). As far as I undestood the japanese mask thing is only a recommendation and not enforced by law. Luckily I'm flying after March 13th when Japan has planned to scrap the general mask recommendation indoors.

Are they idiots in US?

It's Spring 2023 and US requires 5 pages PRINTED attestation.

And those papers never even enter the USA. I wonder what AY does with them. Topi does not need to worry about his heating bill, nor about buying firewood, that much is for sure.

It's not an US requirement, it's an AY requirement. E.g. on AA the attestation is done online
