TA wants to send me on SQ FRASIN, but I need my OW miles ...
When it comes to company-paid travel, mileage earning should be very, very low on the priority list of an employee.

Disagree. Company cpuld possibly tremendously benefit from it.

Take some solace in the fact that you are one of likely many thousands of people in this position, which could possibly result in changes being allowed on a goodwill/PR basis by AY & others, if not for absolute necessity.
Agree I wasn't clear.

I'm obviously not looking for AY to respect a company rule that has nothing to do with its business (and that I might not even agree with). That said, a number of airlines are starting to suspend travel to HKG, and although there's no formal emergency in HKG per se, it's starting to become a touchy subject, so I'm hopeful there would be a goodwill gesture on AY's part.

What? Absolutely disagree. If I have to give up weekends and "personal" time to travel for the company, I'm sure as hell going to select the airlines that I fly with.

Not to mention that I would actually object paying the one-way FRASIN charge, which is going to be absolutely inane. But more than that, if I do not impact my meeting schedule AND am not egregious in my spending (i.e. clearly cheaper than FRASIN ), then I'm most certainly picking my carriers.

What do you guys think, how probable is it that AY would switch some of the idle A350s to routes normally operated with A330s, such as JFK? Wouldn't it make sense if the A350s are more fuel efficient and (perceived to be) more comfortable for passengers?

I would say no harm to ask nicely.
I had to move my reservation further and had a separate, positioning ticket booked on points. Both were changed with no problem. Moreover, we also discussed the possibilities to cut 1 or 2 legs from the original reservation and the agent was OK with that.

Well, if it's company policy, just buy another ticket HEL-SIN and get refund for the HEL-HKG, if you can get one. If not, it's the cost of policy.

Geez lol. I know that, but can we please stop with the "it's OPM [other people's money], so who cares, just throw it away and blow some more" attitude? What happened to FT... my question was on AY's current position towards rerouting potentially affected routes, and instead, I feel like I'm getting lectured on applicability of company policy, and costs thereof.

Any inside intel on the possibility of HKG or SIN services being cut? Some other airlines have suspended HKG.

I'm flying to SYD next week, via HKG. I asked about a refund given the notice of refunds available that Finnair posted yesterday. Unfortunately it only applies to flights originating/ending in HKG - transit passengers are out of luck.

Did they tell you it's refunds only, or reroute would be OK too? My flight is ending in HKG, but I'd like to move it to SIN, and haven't had a chance to call to ask yet.

I didn't ask to be honest. I know they'd only re-route me via SIN or BKK or another Asian city and if I do re-route I'd want to go via the Middle East and avoid Asian altogether - since I'm starting from London not Helsinki I'd probably just book with a different airline.
I figure the risk is pretty identical no matter where you go through in Asia, especially SIN vs HKG.

Well, if you don't like discussions meandering, you may simply call AY and ask for a change of destination to your ticket. Then you'd have the actual answer. *shrug*

I know this sounds harsh, but somehow it's difficult for me to understand the expectations some in this thread might have. "I'll be flying from LHR to HKG in August 2021, do you think AY would let me change this to LAX-NRT next week?"
