Current and historical promotions

This is a thread for reporting details of promotions in the Finnair+ program.

The purpose of the wiki is to keep a repository of current and historical promotions. This works best if all details are given in a post of the thread. Once such a post is made, edit the wiki and add a short description of promo in headline-style, with a link to the post that holds the detailed information. (You can create such a link by right-clicking the post-number and copy link location).
Do not link to the promo itself from the Wiki, as the promo page is likely to disappear once the promo ended and such link will die, leaving the wiki sans historical info.

2018 and earlier promotions can be found here.

How often Finnair has promotions on buying points? I know they have a promotion going on right now, but was wondering what are the chances they have another one within the next few months?

Ummm.. Did ay have a +8000 points promotion this spring? I honestly don't remember anymore, but my ARN-HEL-SIN-HEL-ARN ticket, where the last leg is coming up next week, earned me 18k for SIN-HEL (that's 10k status points (Value) and 18k award points).

As far as I know Timanttiset Kulta-aika doesn't accept Finnair Plus cards. This includes the shop in Kamppi and also some other ones in Espoo. Go to Timanttiset Forum instead which is confirmed issuing points.

Also annoyingly some participating stores in this campaign want to see your plastic Finnair Plus card and won't honor points without.

Timanttiset Forum doesn't issue points anymore because of the bankruptcy. I actually tried Kamppi as well and the lady working there said at first that they do issue points but after a few minutes of trying to find where to type in the number she concluded that they don't after all. She said her confusion was caused by the fact that they do issue points in Sello, which is weird since it seems to be owned by the same company as the Kamppi store.

I also picked up my order of koristeluraappas yesterday at Decanter, and this time there was a different lady working there who didn't look super happy about this point collecting. As soon as I asked her to register my Finnair Plus number she went "So they're having one of those campaigns again, aren't they? How many points can you get this time? Did you not find anything cheaper to buy?"

By the way, they also seem to sell egg cups for 1,80 € which are available at the store. A good option if you don't want to go through the trouble of ordering the koristeluraappas.

Today I did my points run with Moomin shop, Decanter, RTV and Patricia (fortunately I had my female friend along for the last one). The cashier at Decanter commented that "quite a few of you younger guys have been here..." when I asked her whether she had guessed I had my AY+ card with me...

An update on Timanttiset: I called some of the stores in the capital region to ask whether or not they issue points. Sello store told me they don't (which contradicts what the person working in Kamppi said), and in Kaari they weren't sure but suspected they don't. At last, I hit the jackpot (if you excuse me my overt exaggeration) with Timanttiset Itis, so I headed there yesterday. You need to have your physical card with you because they can only add your number by wiping the magnet stripe. Also, they had plenty of the 3 € Nomination Steel pieces left even though the website says they don't. Points posted overnight.

Two weeks ago I booked a table for a brunch through TableOnline. Yesterday I sent an e-mail asking when I could expect to see the AY+ points on my account, and the reply I got was that the points are issued on the 15th day of the month following the booking. That is, if you have a reservation for 1st of July, you can expect to see the points after 15th of August. I suppose the points for this campaign will be issued in October so reservations made in August will probably still be counted as a partner even if the points will be issued in September.

All in all, this campaign reminds me why I normally would not bother showing my AY+ card when doing business with these partners:
  • The points accrual is usually too small to justify even the minimal effort of finding the AY+ card from my pocket (most partners).
  • The posting time is ridiculously long (up to two months with Akruu.com, Booking.com, TableOnline, and probably many others).
  • It's impossible to find out what the points accrual is or what the conditions for points accrual are on the website (ChangeGroup).
  • It's unclear if a specific store in a chain is issuing points or not, even for members of staff in these stores (Timanttiset).

Yes, if Finnair really wants to make plus partners into a good business these things has to be addressed. I too never use the partner system, not even for cake-combs.

Get a decent backbone for partners to do online points settlement, clean up the partner pages and make sure info is rock solid, demand partners also engage in this. I believe SK is operating a fairly successful partner program so it can be done. But for Finnair it looks like an operation the cat dragged in.
