Damn you're even crazier than me. I'll arrive at HEL around 1500 NYE and the next flight will be 25 hours later...

Nothing to report from my side other than ”darkness”. Well after contemplating the SK Diamond is worth a penny compared to AY Plat, no brainer to start running AY again. Hoping to report a nice track next year

Finnair Platinum renewed, Swiss Senator renewed, SAS Eurobonus Diamond renewed (+achieved Eurobonus Lifetime Gold). As I don’t need to renew Senator next year and I don’t really care about the SAS status anymore after having reached Lifetime Gold, I am considering going all in for Oneworld in 2019. Would be great to join the prestigious Lumo-idiot club here.

Just landed last flight of the year and here are my stats. A slow year for me, and especially for my AY+ account. Only one AY longhaul in the beginning of the year.

New airlines: BR, CA
New airports: SKG, NKG

BIS: 48 148 km

Airports: 12
Carriers: 8
Segments: 29 (2 for business-reasons)
Countries: 8
Longest: CPH-PEK
Shortest: SKG-ATH

I stayed completely in "the second quadrant" of the world this year:
Northernmost: HEL
Southernmost: HKG
Westernmost: TPE
Easternmost: CPH

Since my tracking period is almost the same as the calendar year, I'm gonna wrap up a little differently: in the beginning of 2018 I got a gold card from a good platsku friend. This totally changed my way of traveling. Previously I bought the cheapest flights available and thus used a lot of Norwegian. After the gold, I've done only one trip with Norwegian and 25 legs with AY. The lounge access has changed the way of traveling to the direction "shorter but more often". When previously a 3 nights' Europe trip was a standard, now 2 nights seem totally fine, since the holiday starts from the lounge. 20+ legs have been a lot more than I have done on previous years. I will not be able to renew my gold, but FT madness has caught me anyway since I already have flights booked for platsku 2019. Really looking forward to that.

It has been interesting to see, how "normal" people have difficulties of understanding excessive flying. I keep hearing that it's strange to do so many trips in a year. I've also had quite a few discussions about CO2 emissions and the general impact on nature. This topic seems to be non existent in FT, which I find a bit strange.
