Hey! What is this new award fare?! 85k points for a Finnair economy award?
If you search an award as a return ticket, it can combine different type of awards and price it out at the most expensive one. So this Finnair availability is not sold as Finnair award but as a oneworld award, because the return flight only has seats on oneworld partner, making this economy return cost a whopping 170k points.
If you search and book the same flights as one-ways, you will get away with 147k points. Still horrendous as you will pay a penalty for booking a oneworld award as oneway but cheaper than a "return" because the Finnair flights drops to 45k, suddenly being sold as a Finnair award.
I wonder how many non-savvy members are tricket into booking awards at inflated prices this way.

If you book an award that has AY HEL-SIN, and then e.g. one or two QF legs, they charge the AY leg according to Qantas prices. But there's nothing else to do, it only sells it as a oneworld award if you want it as a single ticket (+ penalty if it's a one-way OW award), making HEL-(OZ,NZ) a whopping 132 000 points as a one-way and still a salty 220 000 points as an economy return. Business return is 320 000 points, but naturally zero availability because it's actually a decent offer given that AY own LH business return is 160 000.

Edit: it's right there in the wiki of the upgrade thread. Will not work.

Indeed, that scenario. I didn‘t expect it to work so no big deal.
Let‘s see if I can manage to get a Plat drink then by showing the card. Or can I switch the FFN to the AY+ one from the BAEC one in the booking?

You probably cannot change the FFP# yourself, but an agent will be able to do it. After which you shoud get benefits like lounge access or free bags.

What would people say are the best options/destinations (i.e., return for points) for points awards within Northern Europe and within Europe? I guess answers will be subjective, but have some points to use and just thinking about where I should go
