No one seems to be reporting new vouchers so it seems like a MAJOR downgrade since now vouchers will expire before your tier does and with the added problem of even being able to use vouchers...

It's has to be, because it's my first time doing a milerun and getting platinum this year and that has to be the worst year of doing that

New policy is you get vouchers when reaching the new tier immediately (as before), but no new set of vouchers, when the full year of that new tier starts (enhanced away). At the beginning of the NEXT tracking period, if enough tier points collected for renewal, new set of vouchers are provided (as before). This is purely based on info posted here. No official info on Finnair's website.

In all fairness, this was never an official perk. Finnair has treated the beginning of a newly earned status year the same way, they treated status renewals. That never really made sense, since it was always still the same status period that just has started early when you reached the tier. So, while it's sad, that this is gone, this one is not really an enhancement, rather a fix.

in all fairness something that has been like that for as long as I can remember being changed all of a sudden is a enhancement of the worst kind even if its not official, especially wheb it leaves members with vouchers e piring before their elite status does....

Fair warning that this is changing would have eased the blow to many but as allways finnair chose to sneak this in instead of letting us know. Many could have timed their status runs then accordingly...

Just my 2 cents...

Finnair has made alot of moves that I fear will bite them in the butt long term, not the best time to burn bridges IMO.

Time will show, but this definately was a sneaky way to do it even if it wasnt official...

An Established practice none the less

Good point on the expiration date of the vouchers. Yes, that at least should have been communicated.

Everything SHOULD be communicated, all chabges etc so they are NOT a suprise. Moves like this atleast for me destroy loyalty and trust

At a time like this with finnair in deep trouble they should instill loyalty to a fault, try to keep people flying on finnair IMO.

Sneaking in changes on people sucks!

I agree with you. The old policy was too good to last.

The change will mostly affect members gaining a higher status, so members keeping their current status won't lose anything. Those will lose who purposely went down a tier and then quickly climbed back up, but they were playing the system.

AY's communication has always been weak and it's getting weaker.

I remember reading that vouchers are awarded when one reaches the new status and in the beginning of the next status period. Of course, it does mean that I remember correct

As my tracking period will reset October 1st, and with some other flights in that month + award point change I would make to the Lumo level already by end of October. That would be almost two years of Lumo life. I thought (and still think) this would be "the opportunity" to hit the Lumo level, but have also started to hesitate. Should I be just fine with Platinum level, as the Lumo has seen many enhancements recently? Well, I need to think about this and decide what to do. I wonder if any of you have similar "problem"? I think I could also change the name in the ticket with 400 euros, just wonder if one would then also receive those triple points?
Thanks for the thoughts and opinions in this topic. I just cancelled this mileage run ticket as it looks that there are fairly limited reasons to push towards the Lumo level. This ticket would have been a jackpot in terms of points, but still it was difficult to justify to use it only for the Lumo hunt.

This.

It has been the policy since at least 2009 when the program was revamped from 24m to 12m membership year. It is an de-facto policy.

Problem here is that someone in Finnair thinks they can tinker with the program, change a rule here and there, do a whimsical modification to a procedure or routine and not feel obligated to communicate anything. At best, they change some text on the webpage from one ambiguity to another. Either they don't understand the implications of the changes they make or they don't care.
I've said it before, in the loyalty game trust is the currency and they are doing their best to incinnerate all they've earned.

indeed and thus not as appealing of a program for some. If I want mystery and excitement I go to the casino or play the lotto, I dont choose a FF program for thrills 😀😀😏

Could I ask our Lumo members for a favour. Id like to know the measurements of the Tumi bag. If the wheels protrude, both with and without. Thanks!

I should get one in October.

Congratulations been wondering when you'd get yours! While I think all Tumi bags have been of similar size, I think it might be worth noting that there have been at least three variations of the Lumo Tumi, which may affect exact measurements. Therefore, wiser to get your information from one of those who got it this year.
