Back in the mid-1990s, I was flying HEL-BRU-LIS with AY and SN, which at that time was still Sabena. Tight connection at BRU, no status. I don't think status even existed. But when we walked down the steps of our AY plane, there was a driver waiting for us with a sign saying Lisbon. He took us in a private van to some small container-like building on the tarmac where we entered, showed our passports and walked through customs to find the same driver waiting for us at the exit, from where he took us directly to our next plane. All this was very unexpected, but we of course appreciated it greatly. I've never experienced anything like that ever since.

Seat blocked on domestic flight. The flight attendant even put the special headrest protector on and made sure to tell me that the extra space was reserved for me when I boarded. Nice touch and much appreciated.

Lumo Soft Landing
I just got a new Platinum Card after Lumo period and a letter signed (copied) from Mrs Johanna, Vice President Brand Marketing & Customer Loyalty.
She welcomes me as a New Finnair Plus Member. She tells about four Finnair Tiers and about great things in AY Plus. She tells me that even low points balances can be used for rewards. Great! Sounds like a fantastic program.
And then in the last sentence Johanna tells me what is coming: Your next tier is Finnair Plus Silver. ^

I was Eurobonus Silver back then, doubt the other transiteers had any status. SAS just didn't want to pay for a hotel night (EU compensation was unheard of back then).
