So on HEL - BKK there are only two main course options and both of them have mushrooms. Luckily it looks that the mushrooms are easy to avoid when eating.

Luckily my next (and actually first ever) AY143 is booked only after the menus have changed. Hopefully there's an option without mushrooms then

SIN-HEL today was

Smoked Salmon that looked like what you get in Y on other Asian carriers

Beef Short Ribs
OR
Stewed Fish Curry
OR
Mascarpone Lemon Ravioli's

Selection of Cakes
OR
Blueberry Panna Cotta

Cheese

Took my order for Beef, and then came back to tell me and another lady (who also ordered the beef) in the rear cabin that they've run out.

Offered Spanish Chicken or Pepper Chicken with Egg Fried Rice or Fish Curry. Ravioli was not available too.

Breakfast
Fruits
Onion-chorizo Frittata

No other choices. To be fair the Frittata did taste good. The whole affair feels like a PEY meal on a tray. The only saving grace was the crew that was super proactive about drink refills. Offering more whenever the cup was half empty. I think I got like 6 rounds of drinks over dinner.

The wine list on the SIN flights have a long list of (Asian) countries printed on it. In what way is it different to the list on US routes?

I had the beef. In Finland, that beef brisket is probably the cheapest type of beef and used mostly for lihasoppa. It was tough. You didn't miss much. The starter was good, though, as was the straberry cake.

AY J wine list JPN/CHN/KOR/IND/HKG/SIN

Interesting. The wines are actually different. Then all the rest is exactly the same.

I don’t know much about wines. Is there a trend here, cheaper wines to the US, or what?

Looks like "enhancements" also in wines. No more bodeaux or any better quality french whites (sancerre, pouilly fume, chablis?) Nor the better Italians, (brunello, barolo etc) which were still there before covid. Instead it seems they have reduced the amount of choices in red&white from 3 to 2 by simply abandoning the best category 😁 Basic Ay 😅

Well there are still good choices and the choice is easier because nowadays one "kyykkyviini" and one decent one. Of course on some routes i trust that the better one is out of stock and only the 10€ Chileans/Aussies available. Scandic of the skies strikes again 🥱

But hey, only two? of the wines Eco friendly, how unsustainable? And what will the vegans drink? 😅 Guess that we haven't seen the bottom yet...

Don't know if it tastes any good, but by the look of it, lately it is one of the better offerings. I would not mind eating that.

As I don’t like scrambled eggs on plane, I got sandwiches meant for crew
