2017 at a glance
Number/distance of booked flights: 66 / 178 479 km
Number of times A-hole airlines cancelled on me: 2 / 668 km
Number of flights I had to cancel: 6 / 31 945 km
Number of flights actually flown: 58 / 146 316 km
Number of Taobao-packages someone said they've sent to Hilton CKG for me to bring back home: "2 big ones, plus a few small items"
Number of empty suitcases I brought with me to CKG to handle packages: 2
Number of Taobao-packages to actually arrive at Hilton CKG: 33
Number of hours spent on solving the taobao-packages-into-suitcase-puzzle: 8
Number of jetlag-induced, inflight diarrhea: 1
Number of times a checked-in bag was lost/delayed: 1
Number of times car-keys were in a checked bag that was lost/delayed, forcing me to take public transport from the airport, despite suffering from jetlag-induced diarrhea: 1
Oh, the glamour of intercontinental flying.
2017 would have been a record year distance-wise if I hadn't cancelled one AU trip. Some other records happened though:
New (all time) records
Westernmost airport: RAR (159.81°W)
Easternmost airport: NPE (176.87°E)
Longest flight: AKL-DOH, 14 534km, 17h40min

A pretty ordinary flying year for me:
Segments: 45 (0 domestic, 45 international) = 106 213 km
Carriers: 9 (AY 60%, other: QR, TK, JP, KM, OS, SN, TR, LH)
Airports: 16 (new: TLL)
Countries: 16
Longest: HEL-SIN
Shortest: HEL-TLL
Northernmost: HEL
Southernmost: CGK
Westernmost: MIA
Easternmost: HKG
Downgrade to Gold coming up in a week....

A nice holiday somewhere in Asia in J would have been a good solution. Not so easy to pull through with two small kids, however.

52 flights (33 op by AY or N7), 117,326 km (91,221 km) kinda boring
On record side: reached the 1 gigameter life-time flying distance.
Possibly beat my northenmost flight path record: SFO-HEL (previously LHR-YVR).
Flew revenue "First" (domestic ahem) class for the first time (MU XMN-PVG ).
New carriers: FM, QW, 3K (for AY), YW (for OU, not IB!), LO, HO

My statistics:
- 129 segments
- 195.000 miles = 315.000 km
- Top Airlines flown: Finnair (35), Swiss (15), Lufthansa (15), SAS (14), Singapore Airlines (10)
- 30 long-haul segments (all in business), a lot of intra-EU in economy + some intra-US and intra-Asia travel.
- As a private consultant, it is difficult to make a difference between work and private travel.
- Renewed Finnair Plus Platinum, SAS Eurobonus Diamond and Miles & More Frequent Traveller. With better planning, M&M Senator would have been in reach.

Segments flown: 22 (4 still to come)
Distance covered: some 30'000 km
LH trips cancelled: 2
But as @intuition's post above shows, stats from openflights or your AY+ account don't tell the whole story. Let me add a few extra ones.
Number of FlyerTalker meetups: 6, of which 4 had something to do with LHR CX Flounge
Number of FlyerTalkers met: 20+
Number of people the gold card I gifted has made happy: 5+
When I look it this way, 2017 wasn't a sad year after all.
