Seat selection on codeshare flight
Hello,
Using the AY website I have booked HEL - HKG - SYD return. On the way out, HKG - SYD is operated by CX. On the way back, SYD - HKG is operated by QF. When booking I knew that I would have trouble with codeshare seat selection and this is not a whinge - more of a "is there a way around this?" question. I have read (not all ;)) of the citro thread and looked at: "Ghost PNR" on BA/QF Codeshare + seating Booking QF codeshare on FJ - duplicate PNR Two PNR's for one trip? QF flight booked on BA.com no seat choice? Codeshare flight/Master PNR & secondary PNRs... Seat Allocation on Codeshare flights - QF/AA Obtain Amadeus Record Locator Number on codeshare flight? (for seat selection) Thanks for that list nux I have tried MMB on AY website (will not enable seat selection on codeshare) I have tried MMB on CX website (does not recognise PNR) I have tried MMB on QF website - nearly successful for the QF segment but my seat selection would not "stick" On none of the above can I see any ghost PNRs that I could use. Does anyone have any helpful ideas apart from ringing AY up? Thanks G50 |
You probably need to use the ghost record(s). If you cannot find the references in the booking confirmation, try logging in to your BAEC account on BA.com and find them there.
(I don't know if BA.com supports this, and it only works if the records already have carry your FF#.) |

I have tried my BAEC account and it cannot find my AY booking. When I go into the booking via the AY website MMB link, I can see the booking and my BAEC account number correctly entered.

Have you tried checkmytrip.com, at least in some cases it shows the PNRs of all airlines in reservation?
There must be two ghost PNRs on my booking because I am taking codeshares on both CX and QF. Frustratingly, the QF website can find my AY booking and even lets me go to a seat selection page for the QF sector, but when I make a choice and try to save it I get an error message and the booking window crashes. I guess that since AY are the booking agent for both the CX and QF sectors then I need to contact AY to get my ghost PNRs. |
I never advised to look up the AY PNR via BA. I meant to look up the list of all PNRs associated with your FF#. At least Finnair.com does it but only for Finnair Plus members and when
Otherwise, I would contact CX and QF. There are no reasons why AY would know or care about those PNRs that they don't manage. |
I called the AY customer service desk - only a 10 minute wait and spoke to a switched on lady. I asked for the ghost PNRs associated with the two codeshares and she said
"ah, you will need them for seat reservations - please wait a minute..... 2 minutes on hold..... here they are sir!" What a pleasant CS experience, I have now logged into MMB on both CX and QF and reserved seats. Well done Finnair CS. |
