Once again: when approaching the boarding gate as one of the first ones, the gate agent loudly reminded me: "group 1 only". I just wonder how long it takes for AY staff to understand that priority passenger might also be travelling wearing hoodie and sneakers

Yes happens to me all the time and it annoys me. I’m 25 years old, working in the music industry and always wear streetstyle clothes. When they do this I usually yell back: “yes!! Finnair Platinum” or “Yess!! Business class” and they usually feel a bit embarassed.

Once on a QR flight the FA gave OWE status recognition to my neighbour. Then she looked at me, gave me a bit of a weird stare/smile and didn’t say anything to me. I was a bit tempted to say: yoohoo another one here. Eventually didn’t do it but I did miss out on the extra nice treatment. 😂

Maybe tje 200k gift selection could include a platinum hoodie? Frayed jeans patched with OW emerald green oval sew-ons?

For Gold there is always the Finnair branded gold clock!

At HEL. I didn't say anything but just showed my bp for scan and got wishes for a pleasant flight.

AY1251 to BUD, operated by GetJet, which was not at all as bad as I was expecting. Almost full flight, and the imaginary seat seat block had randomly left the seat between us (two plats) empty, apparently the only one in Y. Nice crew. No newspapers, which is not good, they definately should have the normal selection of newspapers on flights where no wifi is available!

I had today my first BA flight ever. BA's 32N offered smooth ride HEL LHR and I like those seats.

And seatblock worked well too.

I guess the Finnish jeer about "make your own medal" for rewarding yourself should be changed into "make your own clock." It would improve the DYKWIA element quite a lot.

These are always funny encounters! I have to say it doesn't happen (much) with Finnair, but yeah, QR/Asian carriers and staff are often biased toward young looking passengers. However, in the end the service has usually been nice.

I admire anyone who enjoys BA's short-haul seats. I can't stand sit them, thus try to avoid BA on short-haul anytime possible. On the other hand, the seat always makes me buying something from their BOB offers to survive, so it's probably well designed.

Pleasant surprise today as I was just getting "comfortable" in seat 26L on return DEL-HEL leg of DEL run. (second weekend in a row, is he idiot?) Suddenly there has been overbooking in tourist class, and yours truly is quickly escorted to front cabin Meal service was single-tray and reminded me a bit of QR Y, but atleast the Napue flows freely, so can't really complain😅

Again same thing at BUD. I'm getting fed up with it. But no, AY, I'm not going to start flying in suit and tie!

We need to make t-shirts. Black shirt, green oval, text Yes, I’m Platinum. I’ll start wearing mine in May.

In the meanwhile, AY could try to train their (outsourced) people a bit better. Few people actually travel in a suit these days.

I think it's good that the gate agents try policing the boarding groups and turning people away before they get to the BP scanner makes it easier. In case the "group 1 only" reminder is generic to everyone approaching the gate, there is no reason to be offended. If they say it only to you, then it's more embarrassing for the agent than it is for you.

Just looking at what kind of people sit in the front of the plane I'd say there's no way of telling from the looks who is going to sit there. However the gate agents might have a more developed instinct as they process hundreds of passengers each day.

I actually kind of enjoy it, also being a young casual-looking guy. Seeing the faces of the staff change as soon as they see my status.

I too think it is good they try to police it, even if they off and on "target" the wrong person. The alternative is to not police, ie let priority boarding mean "whoever have the guts to pretend to be in group 1" which more or less is 95% of all travellers.

And as said before the proper infrastructure, like holding pens, sign posts, billboards, pre-check BP et.c. is what is really needed.
