This is almost höpöhöpö because the number of points you get is minimal. But Talouselämä claims https://www.talouselama.fi/uutiset/u...b-24889a76ef77 that as of 1 March, there will be no AY+ points for alcohol purchases (inflight sales).

March 1st 2019 or 2018? If it is 2018 then I expect someone here has had already experiences.

The law came into effect this year. But the posting of those points is so slow that I haven't received my February points yet, either... I did make a purchase in March, as well, so we'll see what happens.

AY's preferred partner HiFly is getting two A380s. They're ex-SQ birds and will retain their original seats. Hi Fly Is Getting Two A380s In The Coming Months (Featuring Suites)! - One Mile at a Time

The höpöhöpö part comes here: Would this be something for AY to consider as a seasonal lease for their high-demand summer routes? PVG?

Would the F seats be given to Plats+ and full fare J pax?

With all the J and F seats, I don't think so. But if the price is right, then why not. It probably won't be too easy for HiFly to rent these planes.

Getting slots at BKK seems to be easy and flying two A350's is cheaper than flying one A380, so no reason to switch to A380 there. PVG, ICN and PEK are the destinations that could benefit from larger planes as it's difficult to get new slots at them.

I don't believe in BKK either, but OTOH, HiFly probably got those planes very very inexpensively, and they use a Portuguese crew, which probably is very inexpensive compared to a Finnish one. So I'm not so sure that a HiFly lease would cost more than two AY A350s.

....
How do you figure? This is very difficult to calculate, as there are so many factors.
A 588 seater A380 burns approx 30% more fuel per seat km than a 315 seater A359
SQ has 441 seats and AY 336 (if we suppose they'll use a Marsuhäkki config) so that probably makes that number somewhere around 70-80%. Still a fair bit off from the more than double cost, and I assume one A380 has much lower sidecosts than 2 A359.

So what are the other factors pushing it to the 2x cost?

Finnair A380 would really be something :-)
I don't think the idea is too crazy.
Don't remember the fuel consumption figures for A380, but HEL to most of Asian destinations should be in the ideal range for fuel effiency on A380. It would also be a statement from AY that they are playing in the big league. A380 is the top choice for Y-passenger comfort.
BKK had three daily during this high season right? And according to my experience the load factor should have been in the high 90's. So A380, why not!? :-P

That would also leave the question is HEL A380 capable? There are quite some requirements on width of runways,, taxi ways, and stands..

I believe it is. Haven't they completed the A380-compatible gate? 55 or something like that?

There have even been a few A380s at HEL. A diverted EK flight for instance.

NOW is the time to train some more A350 pilots and put the HiFly A380 on the JFK route for a couple of months
