This is interesting - why should anyone chose 4 sh upgrade vouchers that expiry instead of 40k points, that don't and are also more flexible (can be used for 4 upgrades, but also redeem for flights)?

I'm in no specific hurry, I've hit 200k this month, let's see what December brings.

well, 4 sh upgrades = 60k points if used for japan/etc upgrade. Not so bad at all.

In related things, it seems that finnair has enhan^H^H^H^H^Hdowngraded at least platinum card. It is now only valid one month after tier period ends. Considering that I just received my new card, 2 weeks after tier period ended, there is only 2 weeks when I have both cards valid. For someone who doesn't go to home every month, this is quite a bother.

I didn't consider the 4sh=1lh upgrade option.

As for validity - my tracking period ends 28/Feb and the card is valid thru Apr, ie the 2 months is/was still there in October, when I hit Plat.

My previous card was as well, valid for two months. The new card is only for 1 month.

Was same for me w/ Gold. My tracking period ends in Nov and validity of card is till Jan. But, my sister has just qualified for silver and her tracking period ends in March and got the card valid until April, so I'm afraid this must be something new...

My Plat card is only valid right to the end of the tracking period! It ends 30.9.2016 and the card is valid "thru 09/16". It's a Diners card.

Mine is not a credit card, just the FF card from AY. I have the Nordea AY MC, but that is a whole different issue (I know it is far from being the best offer one can get).

This must be a recent development - mine is valid until aug 2016, which is 2 months after membership year ends.

One does wonder why on earth they are doing such a change. They never managed to send my renewed card earlier than later part of august.

Probably due to you being based in HEL.
I think Sweden is considered "overseas", so they need 2 months to ship the cards to local sales office, where they repack each and every card, stamp it and presumably walk down to the mailbox to send it off.

Too bad Finnair doesn't send a "normal" FF card at all with a DC card..

Truth be told, Finnair didn't send me ANYTHING when I hit Plat. All I got was an envelope from SEB with the co-branded credit card, a luggage tag and a general information leaflet on AY elite levels. A day later the same envelope from SEB with the other CC, same tag and info leaflet.

To say I was underwhelmed would be an understatement. :td:
