On ARN flights, a cold sandwich with beverages is served. On all other SH flights, the service includes "a hot main meal, something sweet and beverages".

Beverages include sparkling wine (Bernard-Massard Cuvée de l'Ecusson), white wine, red wine, beer, cognac, whiskey, vodka, cream liquor and soft drinks.

Choices were either a cold plate (meat and cheese) or an "omelet". This is obviously not an omelet but from what I understand is called a potato boat. Whatever it was it was really good.

Luckily, salads in Alepa weren't sold out that morning...

Was this yesterday, 2.1.19? If so, we were on the same flight then.

AY1571/HEL-CDG/Cold breakfast

While I find it nice to have a lighter breakfast option available on board, I found the execution extremely skimpy. One tiny slice of processed meat and one evenly tiny slice of cheese felt just cheap. And same goes with the presentation of the fruit component in cheap plastic case.

This indeed looks cheaper than a Y breakfast on a high class airline.

HEL-LIS: IIRC the starter was one of what we tasted at Finnair Kitchen event? Smoked vendace with sour cream sauce, absolutely excellent. The salmon main was good too. The existence of second service was a nice surprise, although it was just a cheese muffin.

Anyone got any idea how food is like for a HEL-CPH early morning flight?
I've managed to get upgrade availability on a HEL-CPH flight on the 14th of February and am still deciding whether the upgrade is worth 7500points for a lowly Basic member.

You can choose between hot and cold breakfast. Hot breakfast is something like an omelette and a sausage, cold breakfast cold cuts, cheese, lettuce and yoghurt. Nothing too special, I wouldn't spend 7500 points on a morning flight.

You are right!
I think there were a few versions, but exactly that one was served back then. The greens have a slightly posher attitude in the "original", but I'm happy to see this one launched!

I think there is no choice of breakfast between HEL-CPH/OSL and some other shorter routes. Just the hot option. At least they have never offered a choice even when sittning in the front row. I fly these routes rather seldom.

IMO the "cold breakfast" isn't an option either. I ended up getting that once. I claimed half of the points back. There is no fun eating one slice of ham and one slice of cheese. You can just skip it instead. 😀

I swear I have had those smoked vendaces before. Unfortunately I couldn't find pictures. Most likely on long-haul flights in the last 1-2 years.

Well, look what I found...HEL-JFK, 30DEC02, on an MD-11! Bit more than 1-2 years ago though!
