Safe - Immediate turnaround is easy, i.e. according to experience it is possible to reach departure gate quickly and without extra security check when doing same plane turnaround.
Intermediate - Immediate turnaround is doable, but requires e.g. extra security check.
Risky - Immediate turnaround not recommended. (See notes.)

TO KEEP THE WIKI AS COHERENT AS POSSIBLE, PLEASE USE "SAFE", "INTERMEDIATE" OR "RISKY" APPROPRIATELY! (I.e. no "Safe" for stations that require any kind of security or transfer check, not to mention going landside, etc.)

Immediate turnaround information for European AY destinations:

WAW: Safe (Arrivals pour to departure gate.)
ZRH: Safe (When exiting the bridge, you are under the gates and there are inclined speedwalks that bring back to the gates upstairs.)

Immediate turnaround information for selected longhaul AY destinations:

DEL: Intermediate (There's plenty of time for the obligatory visit to the transit desk and security. However, you'll need a self-printed visa confirmation to show the gate agent at HEL.)

Problem in BUD is they are yelling final call so early. I dont know they have any other option than final call in their system. 20-30 min before departure it is all the time final call for them.

That makes hurry when rushing to KFC on 2nd floor and try to eat while final call is on board.

That's true, been there a couple of times in other business and noticed the same issue. It is really annoying, but just keep your head cool and don't panic.

I've seen airberlin do the same in HEL. "Final call" 25 minutes before boarding, lots of stressed travellers running to the gate, gate actually closes normally slightly before departure time.

I'm currently missing 16 segments for Silver but I'm almost 36k tier points short... So, I think my best bet would be to do HEL-ARN or HEL-OUL as they both seem to be around the 100 EUR mark.

Is there anything else in this price range for segment runs?

Thanks!

OUL is only 59€ while ARN is 89€ cheapest.

8 times to OUL and thats it!

So you have 8 segments and 4k tier points? TBH, I wouldn't bother with reaching a tier in that situation. Especially with the new rules that will remove lounge access from Silver tier.

But FWIW, the maximum segments per buck is probably achieved Finland-HEL-Nordic (e.g. TMP-HEL-ARN) returns at sales price. Finnair has such sales several times a year. If you can't do that then HEL-domestic or HEL-Nordic (also on sales) are the next best option indeed.

What is the reason you would like to reach AY+ Silver?

That free luggage? There you can easily calculate how much you can spend that it makes sense (did that with +1 because luggage is always needed, but +1 was only 4 segments short for Silver).

Lounge? As noted that will be history after July.

Priority check-in? Any OWR gets that. I'm not sure, but maybe AB still hands out those for free.

That was the reason but now that I saw the revised rules.. Doesn't make much sense anymore.

Thanks everybody for suggestions, though.

Just to report back about my 45 min OSL turnaround.

It was a breeze! We were a little early and I was through transfer security in 5 minutes. I even had some time for the lounge (which was a disappointment).

Great crew made some funny remarks about my trip. So much fun all in all!

And an addition for that would be how other airline stuff, customs and immigration react when flying back with same Aircraft or one night stay at the Long Haul destination.

The Oneworld and SkyTeam JVs seem to have a price war to SF, with HEL->SFO just above 400€.

And on Oneworld side, there is HEL->MIA at similar price, some days even the direct flight, under either AA or AY (will you trade 100% earnings for upgradabibility?). Or you can also do HEL-LHR-RDU-DFW-MIA,MIA-MCO-DFW-CDG-HEL

Also SK is into the price fight but DY seems to not participate. I don't complain.
