Safe - Immediate turnaround is easy, i.e. according to experience it is possible to reach departure gate quickly and without extra security check when doing same plane turnaround.
Intermediate - Immediate turnaround is doable, but requires e.g. extra security check.
Risky - Immediate turnaround not recommended. (See notes.)

TO KEEP THE WIKI AS COHERENT AS POSSIBLE, PLEASE USE "SAFE", "INTERMEDIATE" OR "RISKY" APPROPRIATELY! (I.e. no "Safe" for stations that require any kind of security or transfer check, not to mention going landside, etc.)

Immediate turnaround information for European AY destinations:

ZRH: Safe (When exiting the bridge, you are under the gates and there are inclined speedwalks that bring back to the gates upstairs.)

Immediate turnaround information for selected longhaul AY destinations:

DEL: Intermediate (There's plenty of time for the obligatory visit to the transit desk and security. However, you'll need a self-printed visa confirmation to show the gate agent at HEL.)

Great, I see they have added gate 11Y there now! when landing on gates 11-24 it used to be more simple to walk to T2 instead of backtracking to gate 10C for the bus.

Thanks for the photo, intuition!

Off-topic, but it annoys me big time every time when signage is misspelled. Transferpassagerare or transfer-passagerare. Not transfer passagerare.

Sorry.

Agreed! It is a modern sickness - people seem allergic to long words and feel compelled to break up composite words into their parts. One of the best result is the sign breaking up the word "cashiers" into parts meaning "lousy staff"

Also, "bäste kund" kind of excludes female customers.

I am just starting a new accrual year but I am quite lost now with thinking if I should hunt for shorthaul legs or longhaul points for the next period, since the longhaul world sounds pretty silent for me the next 12 months. I have only one longhaul J redemption booked (when there was the 150K points campaign) which does not help for the limited time I have.
Any good insights within the longhaul radar in J for milage run/fannypacking?

I booked the current BKK offer (1199€ from HEL, sub 1300€ from TKU) for a long weekend getaway. as a base for my next qualification period. China's secondary cities or Goa are pricewise the alternatives.

ICN is usually also good price and shorter than BKK. Also probably better food options in town than in e.g DEL or CGK

CGK = Jakarta. 😁 Good to notice I'm not the only one who mixes up CGK and CKG!

FFlash also mentioned fannypackers, so food in town is a consideration!

Talking Perverse

Oh, I love this sentence by CEO of AA:
You had this really perverse thing going on where we had people wanting miles so badly that they would do these mileage runs — looking for the cheapest fare they could find to go to who-knows-where and back.

Hello all of You mile perverts!

Aah, the agony. There seems to be some good business fares to HKG ex-OSL (roughly 1550€). For some reason my work-travel seems to have halted completely, so I think I need to do a MR if I want to keep plat (gold secured on segments, need 27 more before end of April, but it looks unlikely via work). The idea is to exchange award points to quaöifying points, if required in april.

An added benefit would be that I have for a long time wanted to visit the Pier, never been there. I’ve been in HKG before, and found an itinerary where I could do HEL-OSL-HEL in one Saturday, continue Thursday evening to HKG, be back in Helsinki Sunday morning, and do the remaining HEL-OSL-HEL the same day. One night in HKG (depending on flight, almost two full days).

Questions:
-Is this a good MR price?
-Is the Pier worth it?
-Any good ways, other than just eating and drinking in LKF, to spend the time in HKG?
-Will I open Pandora’s box by doing my first MR?
-What will this cost in other expenses, i.e. compensation to my family for doing something this idiotic?

C pricing is quite poor for MR's.
Best points/€ is from BUD to DEL in Y (Value) = 25.000 points for 430€. So 1550€ giving only points 45.000, that HKG C -price exOSL should be around 800€ or less.

In a way, OH-LGG is of course right.

But personally, I would never do a long-haul MR in Y. I value comfort way too much to do that.

So in my books, 1550€ is a very tempting price. I would definitely go for it, especially since the destination (both the airport and the city!) has so much to offer.

Just my 2 cents.
