+1

As even CS staff does not know many of the rules (like the OWE drink) they really need to start document and publish publicly. Official "perks" that are only iffered if you meet the right person is so killing the whole intent of the perk.

A new Plat soft perk experienced; a family of 4 splitted in three on a plane back home, leaving an 8 (soon 9) years old kid alone 8 rows further way back and in a B seat. Naturally, the whole pack was originally seated nicely together before... dunno what happened.

Uh, even if an equipment change that is really incompetent gate/ground staff..guess it was at an outstation but would imagine the purser could have corrected it onboard..did you raise it with her/him during boarding..?

We have seen several reports of random re-seating recently. It seems something is broken, perhaps the "optima seating" procedure isn't so optimal anymore...

Had a nice "soft upgrade" last Sunday flying to TXL. Originally seated at 5A, my boarding pass beeped at the scanner, but instead of getting a new seat assignment the gate agent escorted me to the jetway and said in a low voice "We don't have business class on this flight but you can sit at 1A". Dunno how they did it as I had to log in with 5A to the wifi so it wasn't really updated on the manifest.

Indeed row 1 stayed empty after boarding, with apparently all the other rows completely full. I felt a small disturbance in the force when the purser allowed her friend (another FA I guess judging from their conversation) to move to 1F, but still very nice.

Oh and the purser proactively offered me a second champagne too!

Yep, tried to correct at check-in and got 3 out of 4 pretty well sorted out. No easy fixes omboard as very few empty seats. I then took that random seat myself and (naturally) made sure Ms OHKRT and kids were doing fine.

Oh, and the story goes on that my wife ended up paying her well-deserved champagne with hard currency. Guess my 8 yrs older sitting on my seat didn’t look as a credible Plat holder nor eligible for champagne on a flight. Well, it happens when you travel. Funny to see though how things get sour pretty often.

Next week: AY (J) + AA (F) + AA (F) + AS (Y) + BA (J) + BA (J) + AY (J) and back at home on Thursday.

Nope, just an un-optimal destination in West Coast US followed by a return to Europe for a meeting in yet another capital city with rubbish connections. AS (Alaskan) gives you the hint of the whereabouts :-) And all this fun in four days. Phooh. Will be the grumpy one tomorrow on AY5 sipping GT.

TBH you have no right to complain. After you do that in economy you can complain...

You’re right, although this is primarily due to a job that keeps me going quite a bit plus a board position in States and another one in Germany. Would call’em a dear hobby. And this kind of lifestyle would be a sure no-go if F and J would be out of reach.

I miss the physical newspaper. But even more than that, I miss the nice welcome greeting that many of the flight attendants learned to master while providing the paper. It seems that if you fly with a plane without wifi you still get the paper and the greeting, however if there is wifi there is no recognition except the secret code when they don't charge for the drink. I just wonder why they could not continue with the short nice welcome greeting for the premium passengers even if they don't provide a newspaper. That would not cost a lot.

Was on AY 1336 23rd.

When i asked for a smoothie the purser mentioned 3e. i said im plat, and she dont seem to get it. Turns out for some reason the machine didnt show im plat.
Though my boarding pass clearly says Emerald AY plat. Got my smoothie for free, and she apologise for not recognise me. Not sure whats going on, the ticket was sold as BA code, but that shouldnt matter.
