I can't select a seat on AA-coded SFO-HEL, even with the AA-provider Amadeus AY PNR. But on the bright side, the system automatically selected a Comfort seat according to my profile preference

Just data point - earlier this week Finnair chat was able to select seat for my AA ticketed JFK-HEL flight.

I've usually been able to select seats from AA's US site after I've requested from AA the AA record locator.

Now I'v got HEL-JFK-LAX-JFK-HEL flights, and one of the US flights are AY instead of AA. So I asked for the RL from AA's twitter and got it. It only showed the LAX-HEL flights, and they were unable to give me any more info. But, when I logged in to CheckMyTrip, I found a third RL, and I got my seats.

So, on the AY site I can pick my HEL-JFK & JFK-HEL seats, then on AA.com I had to use to different RL's to get my seats.

2A,11F,11F,2A. I'm cool with that.

Hi all - would value some advice on Y seats on the A350. We have our first Finnair long haul flights coming up next year and as a BA Gold I can choose Comfort or Exit seats. As a couple we generally prefer a pair of seats than a row of three and risk there being someone next to us, but as we are on the new denser version there are not any Comfort pairs to choose. Currently the exit pairs are available. I'm 6'2" so would normally always choose the exit seats for leg room but in this case if a soft block is likely maybe we are best choosing Comfort seats and hoping there is no one next to us?

row 21 is 2 seater, but lacks in leg space. As BA Gold you will not get softblock IME. Exit row is 3 seater.

No two-seater on the high density A350 IIRC.

Unless there's a new version out there, there is definitely a two seater for 21AC and 21JL. Yes I'd had champers, but not that much.

I would't say new, but OH-LWI/LWK/LWL:

Btw somehow funny that AY doesn't even advertise this 336-seater on their website or Blue Wings magazine. Acc. to these all AY A350 have 297 seats.

Do you see 9 or 18 seats abreast on this config?

Good to know. As these configs are 3 / 10, I still wouldn't say "there are no 2 seaters". Also to note exit row 41 remains 2 seater on both configs.

But OP clearly said he was on the high density A350 and in that context there are no 2-seater in the comfort cabin.

Just flew 2x A350 AY's with Y booking on Tues 22nd Aug, LHR-HEL/HEL-BKK booked on finnair.com

1. Entering BA-Gold/OWE id during booking I was able to reserve seats foc via seat map (foc during booking + foc via MMB post booking), including
i)Economy comfort such as rows 21-23?
ii)preferred seats, rows just behind economy comport
iii)extras legroom seatrs , ie Emer Exit Row 41 AND Row 42A/L seats
o Emer Exit row 41 is in effect 2seats B+C l/h/s and 2seats J+K (no seats A/L)
o Row 42 Seats A+L thus has zero seat uin fron, massive legroom , AND can easily directly exit seat past 41B or 41K respectively). Plus 42A/L have windows
o I reserved seats foc LHR-HEL 42L and HEL-BKK 42A (as BA-Gold/OWE)

2. As advised in this forum, asking cabin stewards nicely one can still get as OWE noise-cancel headphones in Y as a OWE, a bennie in Y+ but not extra legroom seats.

2. On downside in Y this Aug2017 trip
a)only foc drink 1x before meal , else charged, beer = 5euro, 5cl spirit = 6euro
b)Change of benefits to J/Y+ started Aug2017 .. NO MORE FREE Wi-Fi
(Business Class only, now get voucher for 60mins free)

3. Other
o Booked 5days out so too late to bid for upgrades as closed out
o t-96 offer to t-24 LHR-HEL was a costly 190Euro (compared to offer thread of 98)
o t-96 offer to t-24 HEL-BKK was a costly 500Euro (compared to offer thread of 350)
o as such I stuck with 42A/L...
+ 3hr flight LHR-HEL 1030-1500 3hours aok, did not miss J seating
+ 10hr flight LHR-HEL 1730-0745 aok just about , missed J seating, but J not worth 350-500 euro over seats 42A/42L (or row 41 AB/JK)

And with seats, they skip I. Seats go ABC-DEFGH-JKL.

I guess I and J look too much alike and could be mixed up.

Just tried to book exit rows as Oneworld Sapphire (Cathay). Agent said they appeared as chargeable. Should I try call again (online seat selection not working)? I booked through BA's website when purchasing the tickets...
