OW Sapphire member, can't select seats online.

OW Sapphire member, can't select seats online.
I booked an Y ticket on AY in W fare class, I am a OW Sapphire member and when I try to make a seat assignment online I can't. There are plenty of seats available, but for a fee. Am I out of luck since I booked a W fare class ticket?

No, my AAdvantage number shows up but not the fact that I am a Sapphire member.

I'd check for you but the website is completely wonky. In my experience status is shown on the reservation Record Locator page, but is not shown on the seat selection.

If I were you, I'd reserve the seat(s) via telephone.
