8400Points missing for Plat.

Does anyone know a cheap way to get 8400 points. I want them quick, and I don t want to do another BKK flight on AY.

Since the service is down and the prices are up I avoid flying AY whenever I can. After three years with more then 600000points/pa I will get about 142000 points this year - and I m not really want to spend more time onboard of AY. Since TG has very good F rates for the rest of the year I rather go with them to BKK.

But still the Platinum card is helpful when traveling OW - so any ideas to get the missing points?

Well, the easiest and quickest way is to exchange 30,000 award points to 10,000 tier points. Costs €20, though.

THX. That will do it. I never saw this option.

And as a bonus, these 10 000 tier points also count towards the lifetime status.

So if someone has for example used their Finnair Plus credit card for purchases of 15 000 000 euros, they can become Finnair Plat by paying the exchange fee of €20! :p :D

Unfortunately they limit the number of points that can be exchanged :)

I remember someone saying that they may waive the fee for existing plats. No idea if it still is this way, doesn't hurt to try though.

...

Seriously? So lifetime status really isn't just about flying...
One can exchange maximum 75k tier points each year, so someone like me who flies the bare minimum to get plat status could instead get 225k tier/year this way. Lifetime plat only 22 years away... Nah, still not a good program for me :(

Spend 15 000 000€ a year and the rules might be very negotiable, at least if AY has any sense in the situation. Few years ago that would have earned you a lifetime Emerald in just a few years on AA without any exchanges.

For the OP I wonder though why stay with AY+ if he now days avoids flying AY, and if I remember correctly he doesn't even use upgrades on AY. Unless of course this is the last year...

Wondering the same especially as he's alrready BAEC Gold/Emerald...and no real use for AY vouchers if not flying with them..

Just curious, what kind of rates are you looking at for TG F, and from which airports? Are there any special offers out there and where can I find them? I'm only finding expensive 8k-10k eur prices for F to BKK from Europe

I think OP is located in Germany, so he may be referring to this, BKK from EUR4281 in F

I m located in Germany, and TG offers F from MUC or FRA for a little more then 3000€ (booking has to be done till 31st of Aug.). Given the fact that an AY flight will be around 2600€ the TG fare is quite good.

Not my favorite travel agent (since others always cheaper) but here you can see the fares and destinations.

Wow, thanks for the tip. That's really good prices. The 777 (TG922/TG923) operating FRA-BKK are really great. Awesome first class suites. Flew it last week and both the hard and the soft product blew me away.

A bit off topic now, I know, but where do I book these tickets best way, I can't seem to find them in regular search motors?

I was a Plat before and came some 15,000 tier points short of the 150,000 points threshold during my last tracking period ending in May. I had to pay the €20 for the exchange. I think they just offered to waive the fee last year as part of an offer.

BTW This exchange of points must be one of the best improvements of the Plus program in the last decade. For the amount of points for one long haul upgrade I could get two extra l/h upgrade vouchers + all the OW Emerald benefits for one more year. A no-brainer for sure!

As I understand every (german?) travel agent can book these tickets.

If I had 15m € to spend a year, I probably never would be seen on any commercial aircraft :D
