Current and historical promotions

This is a thread for reporting details of promotions in the Finnair+ program.

The purpose of the wiki is to keep a repository of current and historical promotions. This works best if all details are given in a post of the thread. Once such a post is made, edit the wiki and add a short description of promo in headline-style, with a link to the post that holds the detailed information. (You can create such a link by right-clicking the post-number and copy link location).
Do not link to the promo itself from the Wiki, as the promo page is likely to disappear once the promo ended and such link will die, leaving the wiki sans historical info.

Feel free to discuss alterations to the format in the thread below.

Do not delete historical posts.

A test to see if points promos are a viable way to compete with LCC?

Let's face it - AGP is a leisure destination. The plane is going to be full of regular Mr. and Mrs. Virtanen with kids, who fly once a year. These people are not attracted by point promotions, but a cheap price. OTOH, there may be a few frequent travelers. Some of them have booked with points so no benefit for extra award points, others pay cash to earn a few extra tier points.

For me, personally, double award point earnings is a very small motivation. Yes, I would register and collect the points if I were to travel to AGP anyway, but double tier points would be far more interesting. There are easier ways to earn award points (DC, Finavia parking). if the double points promo was on long haul, then it would be a different matter since an extra 40k award points would actually be worth something.

Yes, SK seems to be going LCC!

They just cut earnings by 94% on cheapest tickets and the internetz are ranting about how this is indication of SK wanting to compete only on lowest price.

We already know they are serving "polarrulle" in their "businessclass" and they have cancelled several third-party lounges over the years (ie offering no lounge at majority of destinations) so they are certainly not spending money to earn money.

Might be a way to fight SK on this route, however, I wonder how many Finns are even aware of SK operating HEL-AGP. I just booked open jaws with AGP-HEL as the return for some family members. Enrolled them in the promo now, but I wonder if double points only apply to HEL-AGP, not AGP-HEL. Not surprisingly, the terms aren't very clear on this.

They are fighting Norwegian, which almost doubled their capacity to Spain.

https://www.lentodiilit.fi/2018/10/0...os-kesalennot/

https://media.fi.norwegian.com/press...udella-2673588

Espanja on yksi suomalaisten matkustajien suosituimmista matkakohteista. Tulevalla talvikaudella Norwegian lisää yli 200 000 paikkaa Helsinki-Vantaan lentoasemalta lähteville lennoilleen useisiin kohteisiin Espanjassa. Kapasiteetti kasvaa lähes 85 prosentilla.
Norwegianin lisäykset Espanjaan Helsinki-Vantaalta talvikaudella:

Malaga (AGP) – lisäys jopa kolmeen lähtöön päivässä

Alicante (ALC) – lisäys jopa kahteen lähtöön päivässä

Barcelona (BCN) – yksi lähtö päivässä muina päivinä paitsi maanantaisin ja lauantaisin

Las Palmas (LPA) – lisäys jopa kahteen lähtöön päivässä

Teneriffa (TFS) – lisäys jopa kahteen lähtöön päivässä

Hoping for a good Black friday or christmas promo from Finnair this year! Watching fares from Sweden to Hong Kong for march-april and they are a bit high at the moment. Will be patient as there are many months to go. They are running a promo for some chinese cities but only for Beijing, Nanjing etc.

As Pointshound is a third-party booking platform, it means no hotel elite night accrual, no hotel points, no elite perks at the hotel - so really no, but no thank you. Just the free breakfast amenity (elite perk) would well out value the 8k AY points

Can't find the English version, however:
KOROTA MATKUSTUSLUOKKASI EDULLISEMMIN
Matkusta mukavasti Finnairin businessluokassa!
So upgrades for Northern European flights for 5,000 points if the flight is during 1 Nov and 17 Dec.

Short hops, barely worth compared to legroom at exit row. OSL one of worthy routes perhaps.

Might be that this is intended for Finnish market only? In the past those Euro-upgrade offers have not been published on any other section than the .fi

It is in English on the regular Travel class upgrade page.

But as intuition wrote, you only find it on the pages for Finland.
