3rd night free & suite upgrade on 3rd-party reservation?

Hi All,

Just wanted to see if I could apply a 3rd night free & suite upgrade on a third party reservation (made through a travel agent)? Paid the same rate as the direct Fairmont website

Cheers,

fw

If you're referring to a "regular" TA and not an OTA such as Priceline: yes, you can certainly use a suite upgrade cert.

3rd night free cert would most likely work if it's a flexible / refundable booking; may be harder / impossible if it's a pre-paid rate

Really? I mean, I don't have first hand experience on this but a colleague of mine simply got the 3rd night refunded to his CC on a prepaid rate.

Mind you, this is a sample size of 1.

If booked directly via Fairmont: yes, absolutely no problem

If booked via a TA: potentially a mess due to the way pre-paid rates are structured (in particular commission payments which would need to be reversed).

I'm not saying it's impossible when booking via a corporate TA or a "regular" TA, but I'd certainly stay clear of trying to do this when booking a pre-paid rate via an OTA.

Ah, thanks for the clarification!

I used a suite upgrade successfully at Chateau Laurier in 2014 on a booking on hotels.com :) !

Forgive me, but why is this something unusual? Did I miss something?

It's not necessarily unusual, but it answers (part of) the OP's question.
