Hi Skyteam, which square you mean? the multicooured hexagon or the garden octagon.. I can help as we have stayed so many times here, but I was wandering what you meant!

Canford no need to apologize about the delay and thanks for all the tips. It's good to know in-room dining should be avoided because we probably would have done this one night while on our balcony.

Thanks for the heads up on the difficulty of using the local dining experience cert. I was the first one to every use it at Kea Lani and PacRim and on both those occasions it was a task to redeem.

I have a rez at Nobu but if you have any more down to earth but delicious dining options please let me know via pm or even in this thread since it could use more activity and help others out visiting Monaco. We already have a few "Michelin star" reservations made on this trip and truthfully that's not my scene but the better half enjoys it so I trudge along.

Any chance you know which beach club in Monaco is best to visit? Fairmont says they can get you access to 3-4.

When you walk up the staircase from the outside of the driveway entrance, it leads to the square in front of the casino. As you climb the public staircase, you look directly into several rooms. just wondering what room numbers those were as they lack any privacy if the curtains are open.

Ahh yes I know what you mean now, it never occurred to me that there would be privacy issues, we always book sea view (using upgrade vouchers although I would pay for the view) I am so sorry but I don't know which rooms these are- I would suggest emailing directly to the GM or reservations and they should be able to help- I will pm you the contact I have!

In room dining at the fairmont is the same as the saphire bar and the Horizon restaurant, its Ok but for the price, not great we don't think, although the views from the horizon are amazing.. we find the food dissappointing.

It is the in room breakfast you must avoid at all costs- it is truly awful (reheated tasteless food, the egg is inedible -terrible) where as the breakfast at the rooftop horizon restaurant is very nice.. and the views...... Hmm take me there

Question

Thinking about a stay here in mid-October on our way from Lake Como to Barcelona. Have some questions and hoping somebody, most likely the resident expert CanfordCliffs, can provide some insight.

CanfordCliffs, I note some other of your posts where you mention having some contacts at the hotel. Perhaps you'd be so kind as to PM me one if you have one for the GM or Reservations Manager or anybody else who may be of assistance in getting the best value out of this stay?

        Arrow

As a follow up to my own post, I have made a booking using the Amex 3rd night free rate and was unable to apply a free night certificate to one of the two paid nights. I did, however, utilize the certificate to add a fourth night to the reservation.

The standard suite upgrade allowed, according to the Platinum desk, is a 70 sq. metre 1 BR Garden View so that's where we are and I'll hopefully hear from Mr. CanfordCliffs re: a contact at the hotel or contact them myself to beg and plead for a sea view and inquire about the car service.

This hotel was a wonderful spot to spend 4 nights earlier this year. From all I read online it seemed that was too long a trip for Monte Carlo. However the time flew and was so much fun we would return in a heart beat.

CanfordCliffs was right in redeeming certs here can be a royal pita. However the dinner for two for plats was any two mains on the menu at Horizons. The waiter encouraged me to order the 85 euro langoustine so I caved in.

We ate all our other meals (besides one included breakfast) outside the hotel which I would recommend. There are lots of options with great value or michelin stars nearby.

There were no suites available when we reserved so used a room upgrade. At check-in we asked if using a suite upgrade would be possible and the front desk agent made it happen. Suite was two rooms turned into a suite with a view towards the royal headquarters on your far right.

Amenity was chocolates and a bottle of Tattinger we enjoyed on the balcony and it set off a great 4 nights in Monte Carlo.

Just returned home from our European adventure. We stayed in Monte Carlo just over a month ago for three nights (one night at an anniversary promotional rate and two free nights using Platinum certificates) and have nothing but good things to say about the hotel, our sea view suite, and the level of service we received. We even got the thousand Aeroplan miles out of the deal, something that seems difficult to come by at a lot of properties.

We had no problem whatsoever in pre-arranging an upgrade to the sea view suite based on CanforCliffs' advice.

As was the case with kokinos, we had only one meal at the hotel to use some dining certificates and otherwise ventured about the neighbourhood for our other meals.

Excellent stay and we look forward to another visit some day, not unlike most every Fairmont we've stayed at around the world.

Brilliant, this hotel is a great deal with a great view in the centre- we keep returning!

We will be staying here for 3 nights in late March.
We are using free nights and thinking about using our Gold upgrade here, anyone have experience with Gold rooms and lounge? Can we stack a suite upgrade on too and is it worth it?

I'm not overly familiar with this property, however you cannot usually combine free night certs with a Gold upgrade cert since using the latter requires paying for a Deluxe room.
