2016 Facts - Early Qual & GRGD

Hey FT folks,

Reviewed the master thread and read that early qualification is no longer the case? I will qualify soon and was hoping to get my upgrade certificates for my March travel dates vs. having to wait until 2017. Can anyone confirm based on experience as of Feb 2016?

Also read that you can't use upgrade certs on GRGD rates. Just wanted to triple-check that this is the case?

Thanks, folks.

1) Not quite. I wrote that early qualification is no longer a published benefit (hasn't been for 3+ years). Afaik the benefit still exists, so you'd indeed get two sets of certs.

2) Correct.

GRGD counts towards your eligible night stays? I'm assuming it does.

Yes.

I can confirm that as of Sept last year Jasper2009 was correct. The early qualification was still working. I benefited from it in mid Sept last year to move up through premier and platinum.

Every Fairmont agent I spoke to on the phone about was aware of it and confirmed that it was still available. My advice would be to simply call in and confirm that it is still available.

But early qualification is still a published benefit.

Premier and Platinum membership certificates are active until the end of February each year, except where prohibited by law. At that time, membership will be renewed with full benefit entitlement, based on stays/room nights achieved during the previous calendar year. Benefits do not carry over from one membership year to the next. If a member achieves Premier or Platinum membership status before September 30, all benefits and privileges of the associated status will be in effect immediately; a member kit will be sent to those members who have a valid mailing address on their profile. Existing Premier and Platinum Members who do not make the necessary tier criteria within the calendar year will be downgraded to the appropriate tier level.

Last year, I went from nobody to Platinum by April. Once I had my 25 nights, I called the FPC line and over the phone I was bumped to Platinum. I wanted the Plat status for some bookings I had in May and used some of the certs. Good service IMO from FPC.

Thanks!^ I usually read the T&C once a year and don't remember seeing that last year, but great to see it mentioned on the website again.

It also used to be (prominently) listed here and wasn't just burried in the T&C.
