Platinum Qualification Late in the Year
 

Just got the CA AmEx Platinum. What happens if I stay 5 nights from Dec 23-28? Do I get anything by qualifying for Platinum so late in the year?

Well, you'd earn Platinum status for the folowing membership year (= March 1, 2016 - Feb. 28, 2017). Since the deadline for early qualification would've passed, you'd get one set of certs valid until Feb. 28, 2017 (certs usually post sometime in Feb.).

With many of those fast-track offers, your status is not updated automatically, so a friendly call / e-mail to the FPC desk is required.

I had 8 stays, 29 nights prior to Sep 15 of this year. I had 2 more stays and 10 more nights in Oct. Yesterday I called to inquire if I could be upgraded from premier to platinum, and they approved the upgraded status on the phone.

Jasper, I will not qualify by EOY. Let's say I stay 5 nights by March 2016, can I use the upgrade certs right away?

If you had five nights until March, you'd meet the "early qualification" criteria (assuming that benefit doesn't disappear) which means you'd immediately get one set of certs valid until Feb. 2017 and in March 2017 you'd get another set of certs valid until Feb. 2018.
