The Fairmont properties in Acapulco have been seized
 

I noticed today that the Fairmont web site does not list the two Acapulco properties.

Below is a link to a Spanish-language news article that reports that there is a business dispute and employees of a company (Group Autofin), with 20 security people, forcibly expelled the Fairmont employees of the Pierre Marques and the Princess. The hotels have been reflagged.

Based on an hotel search on Expedia, I believe that their new names are the Pierre Mundo Imperial and Princess Mundo Imperial

I am torn on this development as the service at both properties ranged from indifferent to awful. Obviously, both have great potential but the previous owners just let everything slide. The Torre Perla was quite good and the wifi issues were better there but the other 2 towers, including the main one had unusuable internet. Shameful for a Fairmont and head office never seemed to give a hoot.

I love Acapulco, and it is rebounding, but Fairmont seemed to drop the ball with these properties. Being seized seems to be a sad end.
