Maybe a simple count by Chase of how many qualified and Fairmont counting how many they issued will highlight the gap.

However, if there is still disagreement between Chase and Fairmont as to the qualification rules, that's a whole 'nother story...
Or, as I said previously, they may be sticking to the letter of the law in the T&C. While Chase may see that you met the qualifications as far as spend is concerned, the front line reps may not know/connect the dots on the Fairmont rule that the account must still be open. It is why I didn't close my CSP before the cert posted - a rep told me she strongly suggested I keep it open until after the changeover. Hopefully, the Escalation Specialist trey mentioned above will dig into it and either clarify or resolve this.

....To be eligible for this bonus offer, your account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.

So that may be their way out if you have closed out your card. I am extrapolating here that they mean the replacement product, be it the CSP or a downgraded card, is the account they are referring to that needs to be open and not in default.

Chicken and egg scenario

The free night cert works only on the lowest category room. If that's available, you book it and apply the upgrade cert to move to the 2nd lowest category room.

I managed to do this for the first night, but on the 2nd night, there is only availability in the 2nd lowest category room. So if there was availability in the lowest category, I would get the 2nd night in the 2nd lowest category room. So the room I should get is available but it's also not available. (What a chicken and egg scenario. The cat is alive and dead at the same time!)

The rep I spoke to forwarded my case to the hotel for adjudication. I'm surprised there isn't a standard practice for this kind of scenario, which I expect to happen often enough.

Just in case you weren't aware: You can book a Fairmont room as far in advance as you like and then apply the free night cert anytime between making the booking and check-in.

So it's usually not a huge issue except for the handful of properties which rarely show availability for the Fairmont room category (mostly those in the Rocky Mountains)

I got the certificate for the $12K that is good until Oct next year. It's in my Fairmont area.

Now I would like to cancel the CSP card. I could do a product exchange. I already had a CSP card and don't need 2 of them.

Is my certificate safe if I cancel out the card? Probably won't use it until next summer.

Robert, I have asked an Escalation Specialist to review

Thank you for your patience while the review is completed.

i spoke to Fairmont today. They said someone would call me back. I have a bad feeling that if you cancelled the sapphire card you wont get the night even if Chase says you will. In my case I already had a sapphire and didn't need 2

The odd thing is Chase is assuring us that we qualified and our accounts are all noted as qualified. The Fairmont rep (after basically telling me they no longer were going to be involved) said Chase might have to substitute the night certificate for "points or something to compensate". So it sounds like Chase must somehow bear the cost of these certificates and maybe there is some hope. We also already pay for another Sapphire Preferred card so did not renew this one that converted when the annual fee bill came in (after they already discontinued the Fairmont branded card).

Hmm, again it sounds like there was a miscommunication on the qualification requirements by Chase.
I'm glad I wasn't even close to even the lower qualifying number so I didn't even bother to try and just PC'd to Chase Freedom Unlimited and went on my way collecting Chase URs instead.

CSP Cancellation (converted Fairmont Card)

I requested a pro-rated refund for the annual fee of my Fairmont / CSP card recently. (after I transferred the points from the account)

I received the following communication back through secure message :
"It is a pleasure to assist you with your inquiry about the
annual fee refund on your account.

I would like to confirm that we closed your account ending
in xxxx on October 25, 2017, as you requested. However,
please know that the $95.00 annual fee was last assessed
on June 01, 2017. Since the account was not closed within
30 days of the statement reflecting the annual fee, a
pro-rated is unavailable. I apologize for any
inconvenience caused."
I have never seen this policy before - If you don't close the account within 30 days you forfeit the entire annual fee?

Quite customer unfriendly; I have escalated to a supervisor.

We'll see what their next response is.

I believe so

Cancel within 30 days of AF posting
=> Full refund of AF

Downgrade within 30 days or after 30 days of AF posting
=> Pro-rate AF

Why would you want to cancel it instead of PC-ing it to something else?

I also have it in writing from chase that the fairmont certificate was earned and rewarded, however they do nothing beyond that to physically provide the certificate. Fairmont claims ignorance. There are 2 other class members not on this thread who I am aware of and are in the same boat. One or both of these companies are evading responsibility.

Has anyone else who earned the night stay received it, within the past week?
