I just wonder if I could use another ID to get a lifetime Plat. I am already (kinda) lifetime Plat for owning the AX Cent card.

Darn this could have been a very good deal for me considering if I lived an average Canadian life span I would get about 45 free nights plus and $4500 in gifties for $1500. Talk about return on investment!
Is this a signal Platinum benefits are being downgraded very soon? Well at the minimum with options like this, 5 night amex, 8 night Air Canada elite or buying status I think so.

Appears there is chatter on DansDeals that this is a mix-up and that Fairmont never planned to offer lifetime - it appears to only be meant for ONE year. Coupled with the potential decrease in benefits (which is part of any program), maybe this isn't as great a deal as it seemed? Only time will tell. I'm crossing my fingers who were able to get in.
