My friend was on the flight an all they were told was that it was a ‘bird strike’, however they are not convinced that this was the genuine reason, as plane arrived on time, and coincidentally didn’t leave to shortly after the later flight from LGW had landed, which has led them to believe it might have been a crew issue, and they were using it to avoid paying compensation. I know from Flyertalk I can get reason for cancellations for BA flights but wondered if there was anything similar for Easyjet.

No good deed (normally) goes unpunished, so when I booked a trip for my mother and her friend who are into their mature years and sent my Mum the confirmation, she spotted that I had got her friend's name wrong (basically her id is in her maiden name which I didn't know, so not just a spelling mistake but completely different).

U2 has a name change policy but that would have costed me €146 (73 each way) but as I was within 24 hours, I could cancel for free "minus the cancellation fee" of €59. I felt almost relieved by the latter but worried the prices would jump as I had booked the last cheap seats on their flights so thought I would contact U2 and see if they could just change the name instead so I didn't lose the fare.

It's not entirely straightforward to contact an agent on the chat, but it does work, albeit with about 20 minutes wait. Well, the agent couldn't have been more helpful (and nice) and not only changed the name on the booking but was even able to do it for free. Not my proudest moment, but thanks U2 for saving my day!
