Well the writing has been on the wall for awhile now, but it does truly look like the end of Spirit is upon us.

I thought a thread for some of the trips that Spirit made possible/did well would be a good way to close things out here.

For me...

Well the writing has been on the wall for awhile now, but it does truly look like the end of Spirit is upon us.

I thought a thread for some of the trips that Spirit made possible/did well would be a good way to close things out here.

For me a few standouts:

Not sure the once a day IAH-EWR-IAH turn ever really did much to keep fares down against UA, but I took that 5:45AM departure out of IAH a few times.

Took a few trips to down to FL that I probably wouldn't have made outside of the super low fares.

One regret was skipping a EWR-IND-LAX ticket a couple years ago. I would have loved to have picked up the IND-LAX line.

Anyone else?

If you have a booking, better start considering or making contingency plans. I do not know what your options are if all flight are canceled. Some credit card services might be helpful but generally this might turn ugly.

Assigned middle seat. Almost empty plane. Can I switch after doors close?

Spirit newbie question. Never flown NK before. Just checked in for a LAX-LAS Value ticket flight booked with zero add-ons. Short flight so getting a bad seat is tolerable.

Spirit newbie question. Never flown NK before. Just checked in for a LAX-LAS Value ticket flight booked with zero add-ons. Short flight so getting a bad seat is tolerable.

But this is just silly.

While the seatmap shows an almost empty cabin with about 15 rows totally open, after checking in I see I've been assigned a middle seat in a two row cluster with other hapless cheapskates near the back. These fully occupied two rows have about 10 completely empty rows in front of them and 2 behind them.

Do FA's allow the common-sense option for a couple of people to switch to one of the nearby empty seats after doors close or do the 12 people have to remain scrunched together with over 72 seats in front or behind them remaining empty?

I get weight-balance issues, but a couple of people moving one row ahead or behind seems to have no impact on that.

Not the end of the world, but still...
