Hi everyone,

I'm trying to book myself a one-way from somewhere in Southeast Asia to Los Angeles this August. I've been looking at many airlines and alliances and the overall trend seems to be that availability is very, very sparse. I've been poking around with EVA Air's search tool and I noticed when I search on their website it actually seems to provide ample options. For example, I was looking at HAN-LAX on August 18 and it gave me over a dozen itineraries including some entirely on BR through TPE and others on *A partners like through ICN on OZ, through PVG on CA and UA, through SZX on ZH and CA, etc. I'm kind of skeptical whether this actually represents real award space or just itinerary options regardless of whether any actual seats are open. For the itineraries exclusively on BR, if I search through BR's own EVA/UNI Air redemption link all flights show up as waitlists, and if I search for the other options they give such as on OZ, CA, UA, etc. on another website like MileagePlus or Aeroplan I don't see those listed flights available. Before I commit to transferring over a large amount of points from my credit card I want to make sure that if EVA lists an itinerary whether it's actually bookable. Anyone have any experience or insight with this?

So the upgrade to TPE is looking less and less likely, while we have the upgrade already confirmed on the way back. So our first learning point is never book a BR flight where an upgrade can't be confirmed at time of ticketing.

Now that leaves us with our BR accounts in the PNR LAX>TPE, and a week later, TPE-CTS. CTS-TPE is coach, and TPE-LAX is already upgraded with BR miles. If we leave things as-is, we won't have lounge access at LAX, or at TPE enroute to CTS, or at CTS enroute back to TPE.

We both have *G status with United and would like to put those accounts into the PNR for the outbound once the waitlist expires and CTS-TPE while leaving the BR number in the account TPE-LAX.

Is that possible, or is it not possible to change accounts, or would changing the account on any of the flight segments cost us the upgrade that's already confirmed?

Taiwan’s Eva Air on Sunday announced it is evaluating new destinations as it receives additional aircraft.

Eva Air President Sun Chia-ming (孫嘉明) said possible destinations include New Delhi, Boston, and Helsinki, per CNA. Sun said 24 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft will begin delivery in the fourth quarter of next year, while 18 Airbus A321neo aircraft will be delivered by 2029. Additionally, eight Boeing 787-9s and 10 Boeing 787-10s are expected to be all delivered by 2033.

Sun said a New Delhi route would mainly target passengers transiting through Taipei to North America. He noted the large number of Indian students in North America and the presence of Indian talent in Silicon Valley, CNA reported. The potential opening of India’s migrant labor market is not a factor in the decision, he added.

Sun said that the A350-1000 aircraft will primarily serve routes to the US East Coast. At least three new aircraft must be delivered before launching a Boston route, Sun said, according to CNA. Crews would need time to gain operational familiarity with shorter routes, meaning a launch will not happen soon, he said.

The airline president said that once the airline’s freighter fleet is fully in place, it may consider resuming cargo routes to Europe, with Frankfurt as a likely terminus, CNA reported. Flights to Helsinki would depend on the end of the Russia-Ukraine war, he said.
